Works great!
Works perfect.I was concerned about some of the reviews but I had nothing bad works perfect it's been in Sunshine, rain and freezing Temps with no issues. Only on one camp spot did it do protection shutoff and breaker was set also on the pole, would it have damaged the camper who knows but having the protection is always a good thing.Highly recommended.Update:I've had this now about 6 months and let me tell you it definitely monitors the power I've had it several times cut power to my winnebago when it saw something unsafe. In those instances I reported it to campground and used my adapter and used 50amp side of the pole. I'm telling you this device is money well spent. I'll update this again when it breaks finally. Hopefully not soon since it's so expensive.

Works Great !!
We purchased one in 2017 and used it continousley seeing that were full time RV`ers. Recentley at a new park we were staying at, had been there for over 2 mo. with no electricity issues. One day the power went out, thought it was the 50A breaker belonging to the park. It was not the breaker, even though it tripped. There 50A plug blew out, and burnt one leg on our surge protector. They replaced their plug, and bought us a new surge protector due to the damage. While waiting for the new one to arive we were still having electrical issues, triping the 50A breaker. When it arived I installed it. It worked as described. When I informed the park that there breaker was still tripping and they saw the surge protector on, and found out what they have to pay for it . They said to remove it until they get to electrical issue corrected. I informed them that if it was not there then they may end up with a much bigger expense to replace electrical componets in the 5th wheel. This item works as described. Very happy with it even if I feel it is overpriced.

Would not leave home without it
You spend a ton of money on your RV and then you're going to trust the entire electrical system to a campground outlet which probably hasn't been serviced in 10 years? That's insanity. This devices takes about a minute to prepare itself when you plug it in, before you can plug your RV power cord into it. I made the silly mistake of thinking how complicated can this be, plugged it in , then got all annoyed when my power wasn't working. Well that's because I didn't read the directions which clearly state it takes a while for it to ramp up, then the lights on the device show it's ready. If you try to use your power before then, it won't work. So read the directions even though it seems self explanatory. Once I did that though, everything worked fine and I felt good knowing I was protected from power surges etc. Worth every penny!

Arrived in good shape, well packaged
Arrived in good shape, well packaged. Other reviewers mentioned the big size, from end to end it is 24-1/2" long. The main protection unit (located in the middle of the total length) is 11" long X 4-1/2" high X 4" wide. Bottom line - it's manageable. When you plug it in to the 30 amp receptacle the blue power light comes on. As soon as you plug your RV into it, the green light starts blinking - indicating that it is checking the circuit. As soon as everything is ok - usually about 6 to 7 seconds - power then goes to the RV. I chose this model and type because the $100 and less models repeatedly melted per their reviewers. Have used this one every time I connect to power and it has worked flawlessly, from high end resorts to city and county parks it has taken the worry out of electrical power, low voltage, high voltage spikes, and circuit problems of all kinds. I recommend this power controller - 5 stars. Camco 55301 30 AMP Power Defender Voltage Protector with PowerGrip Handles

Worked great but there are cheaper options
We RV full time so needed a sturdy and reliable surge protector. This one worked great for just 2 years and then after a 4 hour drive to a new park just stopped. It's getting power in but not outputting with no light alerts. Tried multiple configurations, pedestals, and parks with no luck. We can hear something rattling around inside that must have come loose. For $315 I was hoping it would last longer. Talked to some other folks who said just buy a mid tier cheapo. They work just as well and if they die, then you aren't out $300. To each their own. Definitely is built sturdy and worked great while it lasted.

Works to perfection it has saved me from losing my trailer.
Easy to install will save you from spikes in your hydro. That can cause you to lose your trailer 12 volt converter.

Value and performance
We looked on an RV specialty store and found the same item for almost double the price. Buying it from Amazon for what we paid makes us “happy campers”.

Not sure why Amazon thinks this could be 'sheer' or 'warm' in their ratings...
The rating system asked me to rate its sheerness and warmth. Not really something I think of when it comes to surge protection. (Or high- or low-voltage protection, for that matter.) Electrocution makes you warm, sure, and the sheer importance of this device cannot be over-stated, but unless I get jolted by it I'm not going to be able to confirm or deny either quality.I should add, a jolt would result in a very bad review, and 'warmth' is not a desired quality in this context. These things are more expensive than they should be, considering they have no connectivity features. There isn't anything complicated in the electronics that would justify the price. However, since it's stupid to go without one, we got what we could find on short notice. It has been working so far, for which I am grateful, as we rely on our RV for living accommodations. Fried boards are not something I'm willing to experience in the middle of a Canadian winter.
