C6 versus Fugetek FG-857 - Surprising Results - This is a Great Unit
I bought 2 projectors at the same time to compare... this one and another that is sold under a few names here with a claimed 2800 lumens for about $200 - I got the Fugetek FG-857 version.I bought this full knowing that 1000 lumens was meaningless and the seller is delightfully honest about that in the Q and A. ALL of these low priced units use "Chinese" lumens which may be as low as 10% of ANSI lumens. Then you have the fact that LED lumens, even ANSI, are different from lamp lumens. So forget the lumens - does this tiny C6 produce enough light to have an impressive picture. In a dark room at night - yes. Can it be used in subdued daytime light ... yes but with much loss of detail. Will you ever be happy with the daytime picture… probably not. But use it in a basement or at night and WOW!Here is where my comparison got interesting... the Fugetek FG-857 $200 unit has a higher resolution and 3 times brighter image (FG-857 was still not bright enough for daytime - but brighter than the C6) . So it is better, right? Not to me and my guests eyes.Whereas this C6 at the lower resolution has more of the "screen door" effect when you are close.... the image and colors on this unit looked way more natural, no matter how I adjusted the more expensive Fugetek FG-857unit. From a viewing distance of 6 feet I see no screen door effect with this unit… but it does lose tiny background detail in some scenes. With the Fugetek FG-857 screen door was still noticeable but only right at the screen. With the C6 you could see it from a few feet away. That was a big surprise. Another surprise was that the more expensive Fugetek FG-857 unit I got would simply not keep focus. Every 5 minutes I would have to get up and turn the big clunky lens. Now is the focus perfect on this C6 ? No way. To get the entire mage clear seems impossible - top may be slightly out of focus when bottom is focused. The Fugetek FG-857 was the same - never could I get the whole screen in focus. The difference was this C6 unit held its focus once set.Sound on this unit is pretty darn good and way better than the Fugetek FG-857 unit. Also on the Fugetek FG-857 unit the speakers did not shut off when you plugged in other speakers. A major pain. This unit does turn them off.On the Fugetek FG-857… Google Chrome Stick and Roku stick simply would not work. They would flash and buzz. The sales page says you need some sort of splitter. Well on this baby both work great - no splitter needed! I am not interested in “tweaking” a brand new unit to get it to work. The Fugetek FG-857 unit is huge… this is tiny. If you have a small room -it is truly “short throw” I am using this in an 8 foot width room and getting nearly a 6 foot across image.Bottom line… I sent the Fugetek FG-857 back and am keeping this. My plan was the opposite…. But I really like this picture better and that I can hook up ROKU and be done. Only thing I HATE is the remote…. Way too many buttons and they are all placed wat too close together. I have found this C6 quite suitable for my movie viewing. I darken the room like a theater and am impressed every time I use it with the color depth and contrast and natural look of the image. Colors are more accurate on this c6 than the Fugetek FG-857 by far. I could never get anything close to natural flesh with the Fugetek FG-857SO IN CONCLUSION: To get good quality and satisfactory brightness in even a partially lit room you will need to spend $300 at least. Even at $300 with a Viewsonic or Epson you are still looking at the same resolution as this C6. To get the next step up is another $100 and to get true HD Quality you are looking around $600! I may do that next time. But for now I am quite pleased with this unit… in truth most screens at theaters are not dead focused on 100% of the screen and since movies “move” the lower resolution is acceptable to me. You may feel different. To get the best pic keep the room dark so your eyes adjust to the dark. Once they have - the picture is quite good. My guests prefer watching movies on the C6 over my much more expensive HD LED TV. When you look at it that way, it is truly a great value…

Great projector for the price
This projector performed way better than i imagined. We used it for my sons party instead of renting one we bought this. We had the screen set to about five or six feet and there was lots of detail in the picture even using a bed sheet for a screen.

Experience "it is what it is" like every time always!
It is what it is!Seriously, though, it is what it is. If you think it might be something else, then be advised that it instead is what it indeed is. If you use 1st gen Chromecast (can't speak for 2nd gen), the HDMI port can't handle the extension adapter. Other than that, it is what it is! Be lucky you live in a world where $80 will buy you a decent enough portable, big(ger) screen 480p experience in the relative dark. All the inputs (and outputs...headphones to external stereo speakers) that I've used work. Get an aforementioned Chromecast, cast a YouTube 'AVS HD 709 Basic Test Patterns' video to calibrate the User picture mode, and experience "it is what it is" like every time always!
