Works well, hardware could be better
I love the gate, and it serves its purpose well. The only complaint I have is the screws are very short for mounting it. Other than that, it's great. Would recommend.

Good for an outdoor gate but it has some flaws
This is a long but thorough review. Please read on.I found the directions to be confusing at first. It is important to note which piece corresponds to the template and how it should face. The templates weren't useful for lining up the holes in my application. I had to use a trusty tape measurer, level, and pencil to get it right. I did like that it came with extra hardware.Because of the deck step's dimensions, I had to get the taller gate, which is longer too. Although I didn't need to cover that much width, it works for what I need. If you use the whole length, then I agree with other reviews that it's not taut enough to keep kids and animals from getting under it. Thankfully, our older Boston Terrier thinks it’s a force field and won't touch it.I have two complaints. First, the lock is finicky. You're supposed to push down the knob and twist it to unlock the unit. If it works, then the knob will pop back up in the unlocked position. Sometimes that doesn't always work perfectly. It snaps back and locks again. The trick is push down and twist it, then pull up on the knob to set it into the unlocked position. The way it works is that there is a groove you can pull the knob into to keep it from snapping back and locking.Once unlocked you pull the handle across to the catches on the other side. This is where the second complaint happens. It’s very hard to get the gate into the top and bottom catches at the same time. I found it's best to clip the rod into the lower catch first and then keep pressure on the bottom while putting the handle into the top catch. Once I get the gate into both catches, I lock the unit and manually tighten the gate by twisting the rolled mesh backwards until it stops clicking. This way I can get it a bit tighter across. Keep in mind this gate only goes one way, you can pop the gate open on the outer side because of the way the catches work.A last observation is that the unit clips into the bottom mount plate and hooks on the top mount. There is a button at the base to let the gate off the bottom mount. The way the gate fit for me the button is not easy to get to. But for a normal installation its most likely going to be accessible. It's easy to press the button and move the bottom of the gate to get it off its mounts. Even worse, the button faces inwards where a tiny human can push it. I don't know if they could pull it off, but kids have a natural instinct to get into trouble!Overall, it's going to work how I want it to. But the gate is not without its flaws.

Works great just prob not for dogs
We got this because it looks great and would work perfectly to keep our dog in one part of the house so she doesn't chew up everything in the house. It worked at first. The dog was technically afraid of the thing like most objects but soon she became unafraid and soon after that she learned that you can go under it. So now it is relatively useless for what we wanted to use it for. But it works great, looks great, and I wish we could continue to use it but it is not as good at keeping a dog out. So we are back at the drawing board.

Great for small children or pets
I have had this gate for a while now and it has worked great for our wider doorway. It has a great lock feature for when the gate is in use, and can be locked so the Littles don't play with it. It was relatively easy to set up, and works excellent for our husky and small children. Recently one of the pieces of hardware used to hold the gate open broke and after an email to the company I had replacement parts in less than a week. The customer service is fantastic!! I would highly recommend this gate for anyone with children or pets.

Works
This unit does meet the length requirement but the lock can fight you a bit, not a huge issue. Overall satisfied.

Great product, terrible screws
Just got these in today, I bought 2 to keep my toddler off the stairs. There are many positives, great instructions, easy to use guidelines for mounting the hardware, durable gate with a solid locking mechanism, and the spacers to compensate for baseboards is a great addition. My only issue is the screws that come included, it may seem minor but caused me a ton of frustration. First off it comes with 2 lengths of screws, great. I had to use 3 spacers to match my baseboard and the longest screw in the kit is not long enough to make it through the hardware, spacers, and drywall to get to the stud. If you don't have paper thin sheetrock they're useless unless you plan on using the anchors.Even if they included the right length screws, they need to source them from somewhere else. This are absolutely trash quality screws. The manual calls for 2.5mm pilot holes, I drilled 3/32 (the closest equivalent bit) and STILL had 2 heads snap off meaning I had to adjust the positioning twice as there was the shaft of the screw stuck in the wood.

Better then expected
I was hesitant at first after watching some people's reviews and reading them. But I decided to go with it and return it if it didn't work. Installing it is easy as long as you can follow directions. You have to install it as close to the floor as you can, if you have molding there are leveling disk to use so it's flush. It comes with 2 sets of hard wear so you are able to move it with ease. I installed mine on the top of my stairs, and used the extra hardware to block the kitchen. I love that it's one button to remove it from the wall so u can bring it were you need it. It's easy to lock and unlock with one hand. And I can open it with one hand. It's very tall and the screen mesh the baby would never be able to climb up and over. I tested it on my 2 block head 100lbs dogs. They tryed to run thru it and it stopped them and held up very well. Then I let the baby loss on it. As long as you installed it correctly you can not get under it. All in all I'll be ordering a extra for the living room and porch :)
