I don't ever get enthused over a pair of shorts - but I'll make an exception in this case.I ordered a size up after reading the reviews, Im a 36 waist and the XL are a perfect fit but advertised as 37-39. The shorts, in short, are awesome. They arrived surprisingly well packaged and felt quite weighty to hold despite feeling light weight when worn....go figure that one.They are comfortable and as tough as old boots. There are 6 front pockets and 4 rear and they are well positioned, deep and discreet. I got a black pair and the pockets have a low profile which is a bonus because I don't really like that cargo-pants-dad look. I have to say, I love them and I'm getting another pair when the grey is back in stock. They feel like a much more expensive pair of shorts and perfect for hiking/festivals/vigilantism etc any activity that justifies having 10 pockets.Downsides - The velcro fastener is a bit odd rather than a button, but it does allow for some adjustment. One of my kids thinks they are 'lame' because they don't have 'North Face' printed on them. He wont be thinking that when i SWAT him in his room later.

As others have said large 35"-37" are actually labled 34" and feel 34" when worn. Puzzled at first by the Velcro waist fastening rather than the button on every other pair of shorts or trouser I've ever owned, but it works fine, just need to fasten it before putting them in the wash so it doesn't snag other clothes. I also bought a belt so if I do need them so the Velcro is exposed they won't stick to a t-shirt. However despite the misleading sizing and the velcro waist fastener I'm still very happy with these shorts. The quality of fabric the design details such as the stepped hem, elasticated rear waist contoured creases and the great pockets make these a VERY good pair if shorts. I sent a pair of fjallraven karl shorts (£80) back as they where no where near as good as these shorts.

These shorts are exactly what I wanted. I’m going abroad on holiday and I like having lots of useful pockets but I didn’t want them to look too military.These shorts, dry quickly are strong and have all the pockets you could want. The mobile phone pocket actually fits my iPhone 7+ in.The waist has an elastic piece in the back to help with fit and to keep them comfy when moving the material has a slight stretch too.The waist does up with a Velcro closure like board shorts or MMA shorts. I feel like I could use these shorts in the gym or pool if I wanted to.The fit is unusual they are quite snug across the hips. When I first put them on I thought they were too small but after I’d worn them for a few minutes the elastic waist and the slight stretch of the material meant they fit well and they are actually very comfy. Just took some getting used to.All in all these shorts are great! Suitable for hiking, holidays and day to day use.I do think they are slightly expensive at the £40 mark but they are much better quality than some of the tactical style shorts out there. They’re almost as good as 5.11 and cost about £20 less. So a good compromise.

these shorts are amazing this is the second pair of shorts i have ordered from them. they have sooo many pockets and all are very deep and large. the pockets are grate because they stretch out away from your leg so what ever is in your pockets does not stick into your leg. i work in the outdoor industry and teach caving climbing kayaking to name just a few and have worn the shorts throughout with lots of movement and waterproof. the water just runs right off them. that being said i will be getting some more pairs of these shorts but as a side not after a wile (4+) washes the waterproofing does ware off and the water bleeds into the shorts. that being said they do dry very quickly as they are nice and thin.

Im a size 34-36 and after reading the reviews opted for the XL, the fit is perfect. (The label inside reads XL 36). The quality of these shorts is excellent, nice ripstop material and good stitching all round. Zips are all YKK and are nice and chunky. Yes, the velcro fastener does take a bit of getting used to but it's not a major problem. I bought these simply for the pockets as I usually carry around a lot of stuff.. again, top marks,loads of room. 2 points of note... I would have liked a velcro fastener on the back pockets as they are just open and the 2 "phone" pockets on the sides may not accommodate some of the larger devices. I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 and it just fits in there, which isn't a problem as there's still the 2 large zipped pockets which would probably hold just about anything. All in all though great pair of shorts already debating whether to get another pair in a different colour.

These are a great pair of shorts - I went for the Large size with a 36" waist but the label does say XL - 36". Don't worry - order as recommended by other reviewers. I wear these in a tropical environment during the day - they are a little heavy but they are hard wearing and durable.The pockets are generous, though the mag pockets will not take an iPhone Plus with an Otter Box covering - I guess a regular smartphone will fit.The zipped pockets are of a decent size and take a lot of my sundry items without seeming to be stressed in the corners. A zipped back pocket would have been a nice additional feature but they are good enough for me.I got the 12" inseam - the 8" inseam would have been a bit too short for me with my 36" legs!Highly recommended!

Excellent quality, ample pockets for all my EDC items, and a great fit and comfort level. What I like about these over the 5.11 competitor is that these have been designed for a European waistline, as opposed to the 5.11's that are clearly aimed at the average American obese customers. No insult intended, just being factual
