Oldy but a goody! Fun to watch again. Last time I watched was in VHS!

My son loves this movie and it was cheap to rent for him and you can watch it up to 48 hours after renting it so he was able to watch it multiple times.

I got it on sale. It’s a Disney classic. It was a good price.

I was in grade school when this movie was made and shown in theaters, I am now 65 years old. Another CUTE Disney movie with CUTE characters.

Great movie classic I'd watch it over n over

I adore Disney but sometimes I avoid some of the older ones because of scenes that just don't age well like the Native American representation in Peter Pan. This movie came out later in the hand drawn line up, but still feels like classic Disney that Walt Himself would have approved without the uncomfortable moments some of the older ones have.

The Fox and the Hound is one hour and twenty - two minutes and was released in theaters on July 10, 1981. The story is a about a fox named Tod and a hound dog named Copper. As youngsters they start out as friends, but when they become adults their friendship is tested when Chief, another dog, falls from a railroad bridge and is injured. Copper vows to go after Tod and kills him because he blames him for Chief's broken leg. The main climax in this movie is when Amos Slade, Copper's owner, and Copper go hunting after Tod and run into a three hundred pound black bear. Just as the black bear is to kill Copper, Tod comes to rescue his friend. You can guest the rest of this movie. The Fox and the Hound have a few lasts in it. This would be the last movie to have all of the credits in the start of the movie and to have The End at the end of the movie. Also this would be the last time that Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston (two of Walt Disney's Nine Old Men) would work together. "The Fox and the Hound" - ein Klassiker des Disney Imperiums ohne Walt. Ein Film, entstanden in der Krise. Ein Film, wenn es ihn nicht gegeben hätte, wäre Disney heute nicht mehr auf dem Schirm. Ein Klassiker, ein damals neuer Ansatz den Trickfilm weiterzuführen, den Namen Disney in die Köpfe der Trickfilmbegeisterten neu zu posten. Lange Pausen sind vor "The Fox and the Hound" und danach... Dieser Film ist von Enthusiasten gemacht. Und er war DIE Rettung Disney Cooperation vor dem Aus.Auf Video und DVD war er in einer 4:3 Version zu haben. Nun - endlich im Originalformat! Nicht ganz 16:9, rechts und links sind jetzt verschmerzliche kleine schwarze Balken, ich seh sie auf der Leinwand..., auf einem Fernseher kann man sie wahrscheinlich gar nicht erkennen. Diesmal keine Kompromisse: Original Format und originale Auflösung!Ein großes Lob an die Disney-verwalter. Diesmal haben sie einen Film liebgewonnen und ihm die Liebe zugeteilt, den er verdient. Das lässt mich hoffen für "Aristocats", "Bernard und Bianca" und "Taran"..."The Fox and the Hound" wurde belassen, nicht digital vergewaltigt und gestreamt und nicht geglättet. Alles ist da: Die Linien der Figuren sind weil im Original im Kreide-Charakter belassen, man sieht die Schatten der Folien auf dem Hintergrund. Unschärfen in den Details, Unschärfen in einzelnen Einstellungen. (Ähnlich wie in der DVD Präsentation) Diese Unschärfen helfen dem Verständnis, sind ein Denkmal, dem Zeichner gegenüber, dem Kammeramann gegenüber, seine Arbeit zu sehen und zu verstehen. "The Fox and the Hound" ist somit - für mich - der richtige und einzige Weg "alte" Filme zu restaurieren. Als Trickfilmer liebe ich diese kleinen Ruckler beim Zoomen... sie sind hier belassen und nicht stabilisiert.Klar, für Blu Ray und Digitalfetischisten ist diese Blu Ray nichts. Es sind auch an den Seiten, vor allem rechts am Bildrand Unschärfen zu erkennen, aber die keine Unachtsamkeit der Retouschierer und Digitalisierer darstellt, sondern nur einen Eindruck vermitteln, dass da gerade ein 35 mm Film durchrast... 25 Einzelbilder in der Sekunde, jedes einzelne mit Liebe und Verstand gemacht, geschöpft.Hut ab vor so viel Mut, den Film (unmerklich restauriert) original herauszubringen. Nach "Snow White", "Pinocchio" und "Lady and the Tramp" war das nicht selbstverständlich.Nun ergibt sich die Hoffnung, dass "Aristocats", Dchungelbook", "Bernard and Bianca" und "Taran" ähnlich restauriert wird, dass man die Arbeit hinter dem Werk erkennt.Bravo Disney. Nur so! Und nur so... weiter so!Die Reperatur- und Restaurationskosten sind doch bei "The Fox and the Hound" viel geringer als bei beispielsweise "Snow White", in dem ihr doch alles glattgewalzt habt was vorher anmutig war. Folgt diesem Geldschema und wir, originale und nostalgische Disneyfans werden beglückt mit Originalen, Erlebnisse Eurer Jugend, dessen Gründerzeit Euch Euren Job erst ermöglicht hat.Eine Anmerkung habe ich jedoch. Wenn Disney den Soundtrack, die Musik extra als Soundtrack auf die Blu Ray speisen würde, wäre mein Ostern an Weihnachten. Den Soundtrack, die Musik von Buddy Baker ist nicht erhältlich. Warum nicht? Tolle Mucke. Es wäre ein leichtes sie getrennt auf eine Spur zu legen.Wie gesagt, Blu Ray Tester und Digitalfetischisten kommen hier nicht auf ihre Kosten - gottseidank. Hier kommt der Nostalgiker und der gelebte Trickfilmer auf seine Kosten, der weiß, wieviel Arbeit in einem full-length Film steckt.Das Extra hätten sich die Blu Ray macher sparen können. Es ist nur eines auf der Disk zu finden, und das ist nur noch peinlich.Aber der Film ist wunderbar auf Blu Ray gebannt. Der Ton ist nicht - Blu Ray-typisch - extrem dynamisch, sondern angemessen. Die deutsche Tonspur ist furchtbar peinlich, ist aber die selbe wie der Film in die deutschen Kinos kam. Der englische Original DTS-Ton ist wesentlich griffiger, die Songs aus dem Stehgreif entstehen und wachsen... und diese muss man allen anderen Ton-Fassungen vorziehen."Good Bye may seem forever. Huge Swayze fan (he's in this one) and replacing old vhs copies of Disney movies.... we all know this was a great movie.Like the song says..."When your best of friends..." Before the high-tech world of Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King, Walt Disney brought together this simple story that teaches us that friendship is all that matters in life.Copper and Todd shows us that even growing up in different worlds we all can learn to live together. It's a lesson for all kids( and kids at heart ) should learn.
