At only about 17.5 pounds, including lid, the Tye Works Fire Pan is less than 1/2 of the weight of traditional "outfitter" fire pans, without sacrificing features or performance. You can't drive a truck over it, or use it as an anchor, but it will light up your nights for many years. Fire Pans are required on many wilderness rivers. They protect soil and contain the ashes following the "leave no trace" ideal of wilderness camping. The Tye Works Fire Pan has been tested (in various configurations) for years on river and camping trips. It is now ready for the rest of the world to enjoy. The Light Weight Fire Pan by Tye Works measures 17" x 23" (inside dimensions) and stands 5 1/2" off the ground. Its 3" lip meets Forest Service (USFS) and National Park Service (NPS) regulations. The pan itself is light gauge steel reinforced on the bottom. The legs are heavy gauge, square aluminum tubing and bar stock. The adjustable grill is perforated steel sheet, with a 3/8" rim around it to keep your hot dogs from rolling off into the sand. Legs and the grill easily disassemble to fit inside the pan. A heavy gauge aluminum lid keeps everything in its place. Tye Works Fire Blankets (not included) also fit inside the disassembled pan. Please be aware that firepan requirements vary by river. Check before you arrive at the put in. Use of a Fire Pan is not a substitution for common sense fire management practices. Always pack out your ash.

Highly recommended fire pan.
What a great fire pan. Just returned from a 7 day float and this pan performed beautifully! The light weight of this fire pan makes it easy to load and unload from raft, and the legs attach easily. I followed instructions included and put 2 coats of high temperature primer and 2 coats of high temp. paint and even though the pan got wet on occasion, there was zero rust. The large size of pan does make it tough to find an oven big enough to cure the paint, so I used a heat gun. Make sure to burn a fire in the pan before actually cooking on it, because the new paint will smoke and smell for a while. 2nd fire is ready to go. The grill is well built and very sturdy. With a few coats of oil baked on, there was no sticking. I have used several fire pans in my life, and this is the best by far. Great price when you consider it comes with cover and case.

Almost perfect
2 things that would make this product perfect. 1 lower the handles just a bit so you carry it with the lid on. 2 The cover/bag is chintzy. The pan, lid, legs, and grill are well made. I would like to strap it down but the bag would not safely hold. That said, I'm very happy with this product.

Great River fire pan!
Great firepan, can't wait to try it out in 1 week. Weight is good, much lighter than the Cambridge I had before.

Not just another firepan
So glad to see a 'different' design out there! Nice weight and size, plenty big enough for all needs. Fit two 12" Dutch ovens nicely when we broke it in in the yard last week. Haven't had a raging all night campfire in it yet, but the materials seem like they would hold up well without warping. Looking forward to getting it on the river this spring. Lid and top provided a nice spot to prepare charcoal for DOs. Fit nicely in our old Nrs fire pan bag with room for our propane stove too. Great pan, hope to keep it around for a long time.

A1 fire pan.
Awesome fire pan. Plenty of size for a good fire or cooking for a large group. Lightweight enough for a canoe trip. I look forward to many more trips with this in my boat.

Great compact firepan!
Love this smaller sized and lightweight firepan. Maybe commercial outfitters will remain stuck on the big "brand name" firepan by you-know-who, but I love this one for smaller groups. It works fantastic, takes us a bit less space, and saved me money:-)
