too much information
the information my be in book, but for me there were too many words and they made it harder than it has to be. I bought a book by barret tagliarino that does a good job of teaching how to read sheet music for ukulele on the first four frets. enough to get you playing a few simple songs if you do not know how to play. I believe the book covers chords, tab and everything but I wanted to play the notes because it sounds more like the actual melody. the part that teaches you how to read notes is not over 6 or 8 pages. If you are a reader you may love ukulele for dummies but it was not for me.

Excellent introduction to ukulele
This is quite a comprehensive overview for the ukulele. The instructions are clear and if you work through all the material you’ll be at an intermediate level. Highly recommend! I’ve read through several uke instructionals/exercise books and this one and ukulele aerobics are my favorites.

I have been playing for about six months and I enjoy the simple way this book explains how cords fit ...
If you are just starting with ukulele and don't know a lot about music you might want to wait a bit before getting this book. It might have a little too much info if you just want to learn a few cords and play some simple songs.I have been playing for about six months and I enjoy the simple way this book explains how cords fit together. How minor cords can sound sad and major more up beat. The alternative tunings of the ukulele and why you might want to try them. This is a beginner book and I do recommend it. Also add a simple ukulele song book if you're just starting out.

Great Resource When Used With Others
This book is very helpful to me when used in combination with video tutorials on a popular video site. It's easy to follow. I wish they would have posted pictures of the chords you've just learned on the song page so flipping back and forth isn't needed. I forget new chords quickly and having them on the same page would be better. They do that later on the book when songs are more complicated, though. I guess it's just me...haha. Good resource for me.

Great reference source on everything ukulele. MUST take in small bits, if absolute beginner. Woodshed is a great teacher.
More for a intermediate and advanced player, but excellent reference source. If you are seriously committed it will get you where you want to be an an ukulele player. It does have everything there, but it might be hard / a lot to digest for a absolute beginner. Great book overall. Use this book in small bits, don't just jump into the deep end of the swimming pool without learning to tread water and holding on to the side.

Lots of info
I’d give this book a 5 star if the print was large enough to see more easily.

PRINT IS TOO SMALL !!!!!
Most young people get this kind of information on You-Tube and internet so it's older folks who like to have a hard copy in hand to study. WHY then are the publishers not aware that we need a LARGER PRINT so that we can actually read the book. I can read most of it but the songs that you are suppose to practice are way too small, worthless. A ring binding would be so much better so that you could lay it flat or put it on a music stand to practice. The pictures on how to re-string the instrument are so dark that you can not tell a thing of how to do it. There is some good suggestions so the book is not all bad and my complaints are not with the author - just with his publisher. NO more dummie books for me.

Great for beginners!
Very informative, educational, and detailed. I love the little Uke pieces in this manual. I play the guitar, so I have background already, but this manual has all the information you will need if you are just learning to play.

Book is OK- I think it could be better and would be more worthwhile if they used more ...
Ok...has many songs. But man.....I really don't know any of the songs and I had to go to the FREE website to listen. Book is OK- I think it could be better and would be more worthwhile if they used more recognizable songs.
