Great performer for the budget
Been running the ADATA NVME drive for the past few weeks. Easy install, good overall performance, and perfect price point at the purchased price. ADATA is a well-known brand with respectable performance and reliability.

Be careful when buying for a ps5, check the PCI gen of the version you purchase.
I saw that the gen 3x4 version was on sale and purchased it for my ps5, seeing that the reviews on this page said it worked for ps5; when i installed it and turned it on my PS5 said that the SSD was not compatible. What I didn't notice was that there are multiple products with different PCI gen (3x4, 4x4...) and all the reviews are consolidated onto the same page, which leads to mistakes like this. I have no clue how well this performs, and will have to buy a separate external enclosure in order to use this with my PS5. I plan to use it to mainly store my digital PS4 games so it's not a huge bummer, but really wish they would use separate pages for amazon reviews, it makes no sense to have different products fall into the same bucket.

Cheap, but appears to be a good value
I recently came into the possession of a gently used Lenovo 910q mini PC, and decided to turn it into a media center PC. It had no drive being a refurb, but I have parts on hand so didn't worry.I have a handful of SATA M.2 drives, but found out this mini PC only supports NVMe / PCIe M.2 drives in the M.2 bay. As I will only be using this as a jukebox or media center PC, I wanted to spend the bare minimum on a NVMe drive. I found there wasn't enough difference between 120/128GB and 240/250/256GB drives in pricing to insist on a 120GB drive, so went hunting for an affordable 250. The lowest cost drive in this category was this Adata Swordfish. It appears to indeed get 1800mb read speeds, which is a nice improvement when compared to 550mb max for SATA, but the really important factor for me was cost. Few drives came close, especially since it had a coupon. The drive has been running well for a few days. I was concerned the heatsink would be too large to fit in the mini PC case since it's mounted close to flush with the bottom lid, but it barely fits. If I have a drive failure I'll update this review, but as it stands, this is the best cheap NVMe drive I've found. It doesn't appear to be getting very warm, but it also isn't getting a serious workout. Good enough for me.

Works great for fast loading games
So far I have no issues with the drive and I am able to quickly load games off the drive. I do wish that it came with a screw.

Great value for money
Bought this (1tb swordfish version) to plug into my empty m2 slot and expand my storage, as my existing ssd was almost full. It has worked perfectly on a Win10 laptop, was easy to install and configure. I think this one is about the cheapest m2/NVME drive out there, which is what I wanted. The drive is technically not the fastest out there but is plenty fast for most users and in home pc use you won't notice a difference versus a more expensive super quick one.As someone else has pointed out, the most annoying thing is that this does not come with a tiny m2 screw with which to fasten it down to the motherboard and I had to order one. Would be nice if they included one in the package, but not a big deal if you know this ahead of time as they are cheap.

Es un buen artículo a un precio razonable
Me encanta el color del disipado además es bastante rápido para las tareas que se le exija como para juegos o tambien para renderizado, sin duda si se desea algo aconsejable sería este SSD. No calienta, bonita estética y rendidor

Heat Sink Seems to Be A Bit Thin & without Fins
The heat sink seems to be a bit thin or too thin without fins. Fits a laptop nicely, as I wanted some heat sink instead of nothing. These SSD M.2 can get hot and it's important to help dissipate the heat. Other than the heat sink, it's a very good drive. Software is available to check the SSD from Adata.

Pesimo dispositivo
Llevo exactamente 15 dias con este dispositivo y ya no funciona debido a sectores dañados... ya ni siquiera es reconocido por mi computadora... gran decepcion con ADATA

Great value rebadge of an XPG Atom 50; firmware not yet mature for Gen3 M.2 use & DIY heatsink
I picked up one of these to evaluate compared to an XPG S70 Blade of the same capacity. Performance is very similar, with this device running cooler and its heatsink not being critical to avoid throttling in environments with reasonable airflow. I would definitely use the heatsink in a laptop; the heatsink is of the "user install" variety and comes separate from the drive itself.S70 drives had firmware prior issues which should be mostly resolved in shipping versions these days (mine arrived with firmware x.3C vs the fast but buggy x.2A version). A drive running firmware 2A which I diagnosed for stability issues recently was offered firmware 46 from the SSD Toolbox, which is not offered for my drive running firmware 3C.This drive is essentially a DRAMless version of the S70 and a rebadge of the well-reviewed XPG Atom 50 which showed the same firmware version (1.2.3.P) in reviews. It performs execllent in average use which is ideal for "best value" gaming and undercuts the similar Gen4 DRAMless WD SN770 by $20-30 presently. The SN770 does not come with a heatsink, and is even more power efficient than the prior Phison-based SN750 SE DRAMless equivalent.I did run into a compatibility issue with this drive & its present 1.2.3.P firmware (nothing newer is offered by the ADATA Toolbox) running on an ASUS Z97-E with a PCIe 3.0 4x adapter. It would crash trying to run AS-SSD initially after boot, which did not happen with the S70 (on firmware 3C) or the WD SN770.Attempts to contact ADATA thus far have resulted in canned "exchange your defective drive" processes which would be a pointless waste of time as this is a firmware bug and not a product defect. If they respond legitimately I will update this review, but otherwise I would only recommend using it in Gen4 machines as it worked normally in my MSI-based 11th gen i5 / Z590 test PC.It did sync up well on the older Z97 platform despite the bugs, running in the 200-300k read/write IOPSs range without stuttering under sustained loads. Peak sequential speeds were in the expected 3GB/sec read/write range without capping writes (like the buggy WD SN750 firmware on the same Z97-E board and many others). The SN750 SE sync'd up properly and did not have any compatibility or abnormal performance caps on this platform either, but had the characteristic Phison lag / stuttering under 10GB AS-SSD random write tests. On the Z590 based platform, this drive scored 831k/665k read/write 4k IOPS under Crystal Diskmark 8 and over 600k read/write IOPS on AS-SSD. Under 10GB AS-SSD testing, reads were similar and write IOPS dropped to ~220k but it did not stutter despite being DRAMless--unlike all equivalent Phison DRAMless designs. This is more important performance trait than peak IOPS, and similar to the way WD's own DRAMless controllers in the SN550/SN570/SN770 perform under sustained load.If you are buying a value drive like this to "future proof" your Gen3 install for later Gen4 use, I would suggest buying the WD SN770 instead until these drives are updated beyond firmware 1.2.3.P.

Excellent PS5 Option So Far
I bought the ADATA Legend 840 1TB specifically for my second PS5, and so far so good. The physical install was simple (loved that it came with a heatsink) and the PS5 immediately recognized and formatted the drive without a problem. The PS5 offered up a data transfer rate of 5236 MB/sec and the ADATA SSD transferred data like a champ. I had no problem playing a variety of PS5 titles, and if anything the ADATA seemed faster at Writes than the default PS5 SSD.My first PS5 has a top-of-the-line 2TB WD Black SN850 in it, but I didn't want to spend that amount on this one, so after researching, the ADATA Legend 840 1TB looked like the top option. And to be honest, if you were to do a blind test on my two PS5's I would not be able to tell the difference between them in terms of performance and data transfer speed. The WD SN850 has higher specs, and would probably do better in a PC environment, but both are very fast Gen4 drives for PS5 duties.A lot of this "5500 MB/sec. recommended" stuff is pure hype to sell the PS5 over the XBSX, as that is burst mode and the more data you load on an SSD the slower it gets. Tests have been done on Gen4 drives in the 3000-3500 MB/sec. range and they work virtually the same as the stock PS5 drive, so 5236 MB/sec. is more than enough. From a technical point of view, any good & inexpensive TLC Gen4 drive (like this one or the WD Black SN770) will work for PS5 gaming - just stay far, far away from QLC.The only potential catch is that this is a DRAMless drive, so it has a lower wear rating, but that's only for Writes and as Reads are the main job of a console SSD, I doubt any PS5 will last long enough to even approach that limit.Overall I am quite pleased with ADATA Legend 840 1TB and it provides a very a cost-effective PS5 storage upgrade with PS5 performance indistinguishable from that of the WD Black SN850.
