great knife
I got this mainly for the extra blade storage. Right away you'll notice the excellent build quality. Made of metal it feels great in your hand. Switching out the blade is a breeze and the safety feature makes sure the blade will not slip out by accident. Ive been in the commercial storefront business for 22 years and having a dependable utility knife is a must for cutting out old and hard caulk. I can say this is the best folding utility knife I've ever used. I cant tell you how many times ive sliced myself because of the blade slipping out by accident and having to pull out a phillips screwdriver to change the blade is a hassle. With this knife the blade has never slipped out and with the fast switching and extra blade storage its an all around great tool.

Safe and easy to use
Best knife I owned. Too bad I lost mine at work and need a new one.Its not that difficult to open. If you try to open it with one hand, then yeah, you'll have a problem. But if you use both hands to open it, then its really easy.Changing blades was difficult at first, mostly because I never used this sort of mechanism before. Once I figured it out (which isn't difficult since theres a diagram on how to do so) it became very easy to change blades. There is in fact a locking mechanism to securely close the blade.I had no issues with my knife at all. I had been using it for almost 3 months now until one day I left it at work never to be seen again.

Good utility knife, couple of minor flaws
Good little utility knife with a couple of minor flaws.First off, its a utility knife. It holds the standard trapezoidal blades no problem. It folds up to a nice compact form and has a belt clip. The handle lock works so it doesn't accidentally close on you and the blade holder in the handle works well too. Construction seems sturdy which is what I would expect from Irwin tools. My first minor gripe is the instructions for inserting/removing a blade. There is a little lock button by the front that keeps the blade in place. What I didn't know, and is only apparent on an inconspicuous corner of the packaging is that you have to partially fold the knife closed before the blade lock button works. Again, my own fault for not reading the whole package (who reads the entire package anyway).Second is that the blade is still a little loose in the holder once loaded. My other utility knives have a spring or magnet that keeps the blade from wiggling once installed. On this knife there is noticeable play in the blade once installed. It is secure, but a little annoying that the blade moves.

I use this thing DAILY
I really like this blade! I work in shipping and receiving and this blade gets a lot of daily use. So far it has held up much better than my previous ones. The clip has stayed tight so it doesn't slip out or off my pocket. The blades that it comes with are hard, sharp, long lasting and very high quality. The finish still looks virtually new and the screw driver bits have come in handy on many occasions. I did not like the slide release function that extends and folds the blade at first. What I realize now is that this build feature will likely extend the life of this blade from others that have a button release or flick style mechanism. The simplicity of it means there is little that can break, wear out or malfunction over time. I also like that it is virtually impossible for the blade to detach while you are using it. The blade can only release when the cutter is folded to around 45 degrees. This is an excellent safety feature! The silver and blue color scheme really stands out in a warehouse environment. If you leave it on top of a box or some random place it is easy to see even from a distance and that has helped me keep up with it.HIGHLY recommended!

Blade change is funny but great when you get to know it.
I am a floor installer by trade. I use this knife for everything couldn't even tell you where my old split middle one went never need it. This thing is solid as any other folding utility knife I have ever tried. The blades never slip out when your using it to cut something really stiff, because of the weird blade change on a 45 degree angle lock(which I hated at first but love now). Blade storage could be a bit bigger, but I have no complaints about 2 onboard plus a screw driver.I have had 1 part break on me, and it was the plastic extra bit storage. Broke in about 6 months. I have had this knife as my MAIN utility knife for over a year now cutting everything from carpet to vinyl to shingles. This thing is tough as nails.Edit: After 5 years of using this knife primarily. replaced it several times when i broke the screw driver bit holder because I was using it with leatherman bits which put very localized pressure that has broken many other bit holders i use. Ive given just as many away after roughly a year of use. I have bought roughly 10 of these, and just ordered another. I love this knife. getting afraid i need to stock up incase they discontinue it. Can expect anything you would expect from any non folding knife. Still using this daily. This thing a gator grip a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter and a knipex adjustable wrench and a bit kit can get a mighty lot done. My most used daily carry at work.
