I use this as part of my period management system
Conventional wisdom states that one should start taking pain medication about 2-3 days before the onset of menses. I use this instead during that time, and then start dosing with Midol Extended Relief, 220mg Caplets, 20-Count on the first day of my period. As another reviewer stated, this product isn't enough if I am in need of immediate relief, but it's a good management aid. About 2-3 days before my period is scheduled to start I take between 3-5 per day. Once the menses start I take 5 in the morning and 5 at night for the first two or three days of my period. This (plus tea and exercise) helps me manage my cramping. I can't say I take fewer Midol on this, but at least I'm not taking naproxen sodium, acetaminophen or ibuprofen for days longer than I have to.I've found Oona works best as a supplement to a routine. Using it alone does not eliminate my cramps. Keep in mind I have very painful periods with almost all the symptoms you can think of, so Your Mileage May Vary. Oona helps me more with the associated symptoms such as heavy bleeding, bloating and nausea. As for cramps, these pills do make cramping more bearable but do not eliminate them entirely.

Not very many for $22
I bought these on a friend's reccommendation as soon as I had my IUD put in. I already deal with mind blowing cramps every months and she said these are like a miracle pill. There are only 50 capsules per tin, and it says to take 2-5 at a time and not to exceed 15 capsules a day. I started out small but they didn't do a single thing for me, so I take 5 at a time now and still only subside my cramps only slightly. I didn't want to put anymore ibuprofen in my body but looks like I'll have to. Also, if you're having to take 5 capsules at a time and there's only 50 in the tin, that's only 10 doses! So if you're having a really bad week, you'll go through the whole thing.

Works well for me! Worth it if natural ingredients are important to you.
Pros: Reduces heavy bleeding, cramps, and aches; natural ingredientsCons: Pills smell really stinky (just hold your breath)I started using this product for heavy bleeding. I would bleed through a super T and P in 1 hour for several hours on end, which was making me feel anxious when I was away from home. I could barely make it through a 1-hour business meeting. The gyn could only recommend The Pill. I do not like the idea of taking synthetic hormones, so that wasn't an option for me. Luckily, I found this product. If I am experiencing heavy bleeding or bad cramps, I take 10 to 15 capsules a day (per maker's instructions). This dosage takes care of the heavy bleeding. If I have bad cramps, I might add 1 ibuprofen. The maker says taking these with ibuprofen is fine. The ingredients are supposed to have anti-prostaglandin and anti-spasmodic effects, kind of like relaxing your uterus. I've found it also helps with period related diarrhea. It seems kinda pricey so I've tried taking 2-3 ibuprofen instead (for the anti-prostaglandin effect), but it only helps with cramps, not the bleeding. So, the oona product is totally worth it. What price would you pay not to have anxiety or bleed through in public??! Plus, a pack usually lasts 2 periods for me (each period with 2 days of heavy bleeding/cramping).

I was actually thinking about quitting nursing school because I knew I couldn't work like this as I couldn't sit down when I nee
I started taking this in nursing school as a last ditch effort. I was maxing out on the Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I have always had a difficult cycle. Sometimes my period would last a month. The pain was so intense I would faint. I was actually thinking about quitting nursing school because I knew I couldn't work like this as I couldn't sit down when I needed to when I was working. To make a long story short, my mother-in-law researched and found Oona. I thought, why not? All I can say is, WOW! I took both the green and orange kind for 2 months and it regulated my cycle while decreasing all the symptoms. I've been using this for 7 years now and while I still need Ibuprofen every once in a while, I don't need as much or as often, and many times I forget I'm on my period. My cycle has been regular even since. I recommend it now to anyone who has period issues both patients and friends.

Does not work for me
It very slightly took the edge off the pain but I had to take it almost continuously. Based on the reviews I thought it would be better.

LOVE IT (and Oona PMS1)
I can't say enough great things about the Oona PMS products 1 & 2. I use them religiously (and have been for the past ~5 years) immediately before and for the first day or so when bloating & cramps are debilitating. I can't say that I use the passion flower (smaller pill in the insert) in Oona1. The larger free floating pills in the PMS1 work great for my uber bloated days. And I combine with the PMS2 (typically taking the max recommended) to help ease the cramps - usually in conjunction with tylenol (which works better for me than advil or naproxen). These work so much better than midol or any other over the counter/drug store PMS meds I've tried (even some other cramp bark extracts). I cannot say enough good things about Oona. If you're debating on try it, DO IT!!! If you're wanting to try one first b/c its expensive, try the PMS2 for the cramps and you will be sold!

Life saver
All I can say is these work! If you have difficult cycles, have tried everything, and don't want to use a prescription then these are well worth a try. I've been using Oona for years now, and I don't know what I would do with out them. I can't tolerate traditional OTC meds, i.e. midol or pamprin. They upset my stomach too much and frankly don't work all that well. The Oona, however, do work. Give your body at least 2 cycles to adapt to them...but you will likely feel a difference the first time out. I also use the Oona PMS 1 tablets to help regulate my cycle. I recommend both...and these are much better then downing doses of acetaminophen or ibuprofen. If you want more detailed information about the product you can go directly to Oona's website and they provide a descriptive break down of the ingredients used and why. This company only specializes in Women's health.

good intentions
Research first. It may be good for you but... These gave me a new, strange muscle sensation that took a while to get over. Threw them out. Sorry - i don't like to give bad reviews but felt it necessary to warn people.
