I bought this book series, because I played the board game first and loved it!After reading the forward written by the author in the deck building game rule book, I was thoroughly intrigued.The books are amazing page turners. In the opening chapters of the first book, the main character Darrow lists off a few of the books that he read which clearly inspired the series, including The Man in the Iron Mask.The action is quite graphicly violent: be prepared for a Game of Thrones-like experience.

Absolutely thrilling! Such wonderful world(s) and society building. The main character, Darrow, had my heart from hello. So much details to get into: I love the Hunger games meets Ender's Gane meets Gladiator feel of the series. I cannot get enough! I totally recommend this to anyone who wants to root for the underdogs and for a world of equality. Not spicy, but the imagimation can take you there!

The first 3 books are absolutely amazing. The pacing is great once you get past the first 40 pages or so. If you enjoy adventure stories, or books like the hunger games, maze runner, or percy jackson you will love this series! I got addicted after page 40 and ended up reading the first 3 books over the next 20 days (which is a lot for me). If you want to get addicted to reading, pick up Red Rising.

These books are amazing and they shipped quickly. That said the second book had misplaced pages throughout the entire middle. Nearly 100 pages all bound in the wrong order.The fifth book has printing errors as well which is disappointing. But overall it was not insurmountable, just annoying.

Suspenseful, well written. Can’t put down.
