Worked great for me, been running strong for a couple weeks
This motor fit right in, plugged up and worked perfectly. Hard to compare considering the old motor was 20 years old and in the process of dying, but this motor is WAYYYY quieter and faster and I would have to assume, more efficient as well. I am very happy with my purchase, I think it will pay for itself on my PGE bill.

Exact Replacement for a 5KCP39FGS071S...no doubt about it!
This was easy to install as the wires were plenty long and I didn't need to cut the arbor. Truly, the most difficult part of the job was to remove the fan blade from the old motor...Youtube has examples for how to get that fan blade off when it has been rusted on for years...and years. I replaced the capacitor as well and highly recommend that both be replaced. On the clockwise vs. counter clockwise issue-- This motor when mounted in the unit spins "Clockwise" and arrow on the motor shows the direction that is will turn. Now, when you take the motor out of the box with the arbor pointed up towards you, from that perspective it would be "Counter Clockwise" and perhaps that confuses the issue. Don't be confused-this motor when mounted in the unit with the arbor pointed down...the fan will be turning "clockwise" as it should. P.S. Grease the fan arbor on the new motor so it won't be as difficult to take off next time.

Don't buy
I've purchased North American HVAC products before and never experienced a problem with their quality. This fan motor lasted for two days. We had warm weather, then very cold weather during this time and I needed to switch the a/c off. When I needed the a/c again the fan motor ceased to spin. I reached out to Amazon for a replacement, but the return time was two weeks past their date. I've reached out to North American HVAC, twice, to have support in replacing the defective product, but sadly the company isn't interested in customer service and future sales.
