My wife needed a laptop for a committee she chairs, and after trying - and returning - a chrome book, this was her second choice. She absolutely adores it, and after examining and using it myself I have to say that there are several really good things about this computer which costs less than some of the chrome books and does more. First the display is extremely clear and crisp. (I admit that I'm spoiled by a 2560x1600 LED display which is better. HOWEVER this laptop's display is almost as clear in a much smaller size - plus this laptop cost less than my led monitor). Second it is a computer and has far more extensive capabilities than the chrome book - and it has a hard drive which gives far more local storage. And in addition it also uses a 128GB micro sd card (in a standard adapter) and ends up with enough storage for more documents, etc., than she is ever likely to need for her committee. On top of that it runs both LibreOffice and MS Office without a whimper, and can handle a variety of networking connections both through built-in wifi and bluetooth, and with simple usb3 adapters can connect to our local ATM network (2.5Gb/s) with no problems as well. The built-in CD/DVD rom drive is excellent, and it also connects to external disk arrays (and if needed, USB floppy drives) through a USB port and handles them flawlessly. We've used HP for years and while this laptop is far from top of the line, it has a good selection of features AND it performs without a whimper. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family was well as co-workers, and I would gladly buy it for my wife again.

I was looking for an inexpensive laptop option to load a couple of programs on for tuning my car stereo as well as light browsing of the internet, and preferably not run super slow in the process. I did a little bit of research for laptops under $300, and this HP model seemed to be a good bet for speed, lightweight, memory, and an included DVD drive which I wanted for loading the software I needed. I did not want to mess around with an external drive. There’s a good flexibility in USB inputs, HDMI, hardwired ethernet port(wireless works great though)and SD card port. Computer is not blazing fast and takes a little longer to boot, but its an excellent option for the price point.

I've had several bad purchases when it came it laptops, including one with this brand, so I didn't set my hopes too high with this. But I'm relieved that this ended up being a very good computer! I'll mention the best things first. It runs very quiet (basically silent) and fast, and while I have had the computer stall with when working with two browsers at once, it was the only time it has. Websites load fast, even with slower browsers, and HD videos play with no buffering. The picture quality is very good. Like most laptop screens you have to keep the screen at just the right angle or the picture goes negative. But that doesn't bother me too much. Audio quality is very good. Will it blow your mind? Not if you're used to similar quality computers. Also, the audio customizations all sound rather similar. But the audio is excellent and very full and clear. Probably the best you'll get for this price range. In my first edition of this review I said external speakers were quiet when put in the headphone jack. Not true, speakers work fine. But they work through a second audio source (Realtek HD audio 2nd output) and are at 17% by default. Turn it up to 100% at the taskbar and they work fine. Because the last laptop I used had a screen go black with even the slightest movement, I'm happy to report this passes the jostle test! You can use it on your lap and adjust the screen angle with no problems. It runs VERY cool! The vent air has never been more than a few degrees above room temperature, and usually not even that high. Now I should get into the few, annoying flaws it has. The trackpad could be faster. I had to change the settings to the highest speed under both Mouse and Synaptics TrackPad properties and never could get it above average. It's not slow enough to cause problems, it's just not lightening fast. The webcam settings can only be found on the taskbar, under Apps-Camera, and there are very few settings to choose from. The camera image quality is just horrible and there's no way to improve it, or even fiddle with the lighting. It's the one and only serious flaw with this machine. All in all I love it a lot and hope it'll last a long time.

Feel kinda ripped off with this one. Found the laptop real product information since its not linked or shown anywhere. Even when you receive the box its covered up so you cant see it. The laptop I got is better than the one listed here but i found its on sale at bestbuy for 223 new online and in-store. The laptop that came was HP Notebook - 15-ba009dx and it has amd a6-7310 so little better than one listed but still over paid for this laptop. DO NOT BUY ANY LAPTOP ON AMAZON that does not list the product number or model number so you can compare and look up real reviews. Since reviews on here will be mixed since there is no model number there will be a lot of different laptop experiences for different people. Laptop is good over all I upgraded ram to 8gb and added a 460 ssd so its OK. I don't like the fact I paid more and didn't even get product that was listed even if its a little better. This is a great computer. Don’t expect cutting-edge technology for this price, but if you’re a student or a writer, this computer is more than sufficient. I’m a writer and freelance photographer who was looking for a good laptop to replace my old Compaq Presario. I did not want to spend a lot of money on a laptop, and I when I came across this one I decided to take a chance. I ran it through some tests as soon as it arrived, and I quickly realized that the 4GB of RAM that it comes with was not enough to efficiently and smoothly run photo-editing software. I had to order some more RAM to ensure that the laptop would be able to run Photoshop Elements and the photo-editing software that comes with Canon DSLRs. I just want to mention that contrary to what a lot of people have said online, this particular laptop can take up to 16GB of RAM, not only 8GB like many people have claimed. I have two 8GB sticks of RAM running side by side and the OS reads both of them. It’s only been a few weeks since I’ve been using this laptop to write papers and stories, surf the internet, edit photographs, and look at YouTube and Netflix. I have not had any issues, and I’m glad I made the purchase. If you’re on a serious budget like I am and are looking for a good laptop, I recommend getting this one. Just keep in mind that if you’re going to be using it to edit photographs, you will want to upgrade the RAM.

It's an okay laptop for under $300. Pros: Cheap, works okay for a >$300 laptop. Don't know what else. Cons: Bit on the slow side, you could spend a bit more and try to get one with an intel processor instead of the AMD one as I feel like the AMD processor really holds this laptop back from being a really good cheap laptop. Though i'll be using it for classwork mostly. * Laptop speakers periodically mess up and distort and increase the audio sound. Only way I found a way to temporarily fix it is by stopping all audio and starting audio again to see if it returned to normal. * LOADED with bloatware. Wildtanget, something that was relevant 10 years ago is loaded on the laptop, and all the other irrelevant things is ridiculous. If possible, clean install Windows 10 to remove all the unnecessary things that HP put on this laptop to slow it down even more. 3/5 stars, could do better by spending a bit more on an intel processor which could definitely make the laptop faster.

It's taken me awhile to really get used to the much lighter weight of this laptop; my last one must have weighed 5 or 6 lb. whereas this one weighs almost nothing. I very much like that there have been added right and left buttons to the "mouse pad" - a vast improvement over laptops I've used in the past where you just stroked around and pretty much guessed if you were clicking the right spot to get the response you wanted. I'm still getting used to the fact that I can't get the same desktop view as on my last laptop and on my current desktop; whereas they let me show 9 columns of website icons on a particular program that I use, this laptop only permits 5 or 6; I'm still working on that aspect. Overall, the speed is good and the "picture" is clean and clear; I've had no loading issues with the games I play, so that's a plus as well. All in all, this is a great laptop for its price range and has a lot going for it features-wise.

Overall, I love the layout of the computer. It was exactly what I was looking for inside and layout. The touchpad is not the best and I am extreamly disappointed at how slow it is to start/load and open new programs. I bought the computer to use for telecommuting and did not require a powerhouse but was leery of Windows 10 and in hindsight wish I had bought an older model with a previous version that the hardware could handle. I have installed no software but Microsoft office and have done nothing but save some document and off files and because Windows 10 is so demanding despite durning off the Windows version of Siri, it still takes nearly as long to load as my 10 year old Dell that is horribly out of date. Also, perhaps again because Windows10 is so needy, the battery life isn't that great and the "Fingerprint Resistant Cover" is a joke. Extreamly noticeable inside an hour. Cleanable. Yes. Not a functional requirement? Correct. But for something they felt excited enough about to include on a sticker featuring the computer's features located on the inside surface, I would have expected some sort of result haha. Now if they are referring to the almost beaded texture of the case that may prevent someone lifting your fingerprint, okay maybe, but superfluous unless you wipe down the rest of the surfaces and/or physically lock it somehow. Overall, it works well, but shouldn't be sold with this operating system that bogs down its functionality.
