Tyndale HelpFinder Bible NLT (Red Letter, LeatherLike, Black): God’s Word at Your Point of Need Imitation Leather – October 23, 2018

I had ordered this same Bible for me. I was up at my daughters house when I received it. As I was reading thru it I came across a section that I felt might help my daughter. She lost her husband in January. It did help her and she shared with her widows group she belongs to. It helped some of them also. As I was reading thru the Bible I just got this strong feeling that I should leave that book with her. Which I did and then ordered this one for me. Very helpful. So glad I ordered it.

I am a huge fan of study Bibles and I am always looking for new ones that will allow me to better understand and appreciate the Bible or to view certain passages in different ways. This one is a little different than others I have used, but so far I have a positive impression of it and I am enjoying reading it. I wouldn’t call it perfect, though, mainly because of the size of the volume and the font used.First, I want to mention the translation. I am primarily an ESV reader. This is the very first NLT version I have ever used, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with it. I have read countless reviews and comparisons of different translations of the Bible and I have always gravitated to the word-for-word end of the spectrum. The NLT is more of a thought-for-thought translation which some would argue is more of a paraphrase and less precise. The best Bible is the one you will actually pick up and read, and the NLT is designed to be highly readable, more so than most of the word-for-word translations. The wording flows nicely and it is easier to read than most other translations I have used, and that’s great for someone who just wants to enjoy the reading without having to stop and process frequently in order to understand. And, comparing the NLT and ESV side by side, there are minor variations but so far the differences I have found have been trivial or inconsequential - not enough to raise concern. I look at it this way - the NLT is a fresh perspective for me and allows me to understand much more quickly when the ESV is worded in ways that are less approachable.The HelpFinder Bible is more of a devotional Bible or a topical study Bible instead of an in-depth verse-by-verse deep dive into Scripture. This isn’t intended to be a detailed analysis of every word spoken and every event that occurred. Instead, this is a more abstract study Bible, using Scripture to discuss problems we face, concerns we have and questions we ask. The Bible is full of answers to the questions that arise and the publisher has done a good job of breaking down these questions into alphabetized topics in an index that can be searched when answers are needed. Struggling with fear? There’s a lengthy discussion with a lot of references to Scripture to answer how to deal with fear. Stress? That’s got lengthy coverage too. Family stuff? Yes, that too. All of these topics appear in the front of the Bible before the actual start of the verse text. Personally, I would rather have seen this occur at the back instead of the front, but that’s just me being picky.There are focal topics that are spread through the Scripture text as well, in gray boxes with red highlights that draw attention to themselves. These link back to the topics in the front section.One of the features I really, really appreciate about this particular Bible is the book introductory material. Many Bible volumes introduce a book with a short historical background, sometimes a generalized theme, and sometimes nothing at all. This one includes a more personal narrative (almost like a devotional section), a section called “What you will be reading about” which shows a topical flow from event to event or topic to topic, and then a list (with text) of key verses. This makes it a lot easier, especially for people new to the Bible, to get an better understanding of the Bible and how to approach it.I have the leather-like binding and I like it. It has a nice tactile feel to it and it resists smudges and dirt, and it has some resistance to scuffs as well.Where I think this Bible could be improved is in the actual physical volume. The size is a little on the smaller side, not like a pocket size but smaller than most other Bibles with which I have worked. For some that’s not a big deal, but I personally prefer a larger volume that fits my hands better. A bit more problematic is the typeface which is small, to the point that people with poor eyesight may struggle a bit. I would rather have paid a bit more to have a larger volume with a slightly bigger typeface.This Bible falls between a regular reader’s Bible and a study Bible. It’s an interesting resource with a lot of helpful topical studies that will guide the reader to finding the answers to questions. It’s highly readable and easy to understand, and the publisher did a good job in providing help for those seeking a better understanding. For me, I probably still prefer my ESV-based study Bible and will likely continue to use that more, but this NLT-based Bible definitely has a place in my reading time and I will use it often, especially when I do want to find answers to questions that still come up.

Used but like brand new at a fair price. I like this Bible because it has extra teachings and explanations that you don't normally get. It's very helpful. Makes a great gift.

This is such a helpful Bible. The NLT translation is so easy to understand. Many people have picked mine up and after reading have said they’ve never understood the Bible so easily as with this translation. I now gift it frequently.

I immediately ordered this Bible after watching a video about it. Amazon's service was outstanding. I had it on my doorstep in 22 hours.This is a new version of the previously released Touchpoint Bible which I had purchased years ago. I never looked it over to discover the Helpfinder section at the end of the scriptures.God's word written down by man is the "guidebook for our lives". The problem is most people never understand it or read it. Here is a Bible that can help you do that.My reason for choosing this bible was for the Helpfinder section. I was pleased by how large it was and now I have it in front to me, I counted 356 pages of them. I have been using the front matter from a Gideon Bible from decades ago to help me with life's issues and challenges. I have been adding to that list ever since. Here is a Bible that has that and so much more; Application Notes, Book Introductions, Promises from God, throughout the scriptures and all in the beautifully easy to understand, present day English of the wonderful New Living Translation.This Bible (hardcover) lays flat right out of the box. I was concerned about the text size, but it isn't a issue. Available in hardcover, soft cover simulated leather, paperback and Kindle from Amazon, this is an indispensable tool for all life has to throw at you.This Bible, the Wayfinding Bible, Tyndale's Illustrated Study Bible and my premium Schuyler Caxton Edition NLT are my essential Bible's I use for witnessing, help, study and reading enjoyment.10 days laterI purchased the black simulated leather version and like the softcover and the ribbon marker. This will be the version l will give my Grandchildren for Christmas this year. I can't think of a better and more useful version for a first bible for today's world.I give it my highest recommendation.

I really do love this Bible. It is a great tool in helping others. I know people like just one certain translation but I like to have several bibles in different translations. I prefer the KJV the best but find that they all say the same.

I have been looking for something for YEARS to help me with reading. This is it.. its perfect. You get the biblical writing as well as points of conversation/ knowledge checks along with each chapter. I have regular bibles of different translations that I love but when it comes to studing the bible and daily reading there is just something perfect about this book! Also.. for some reason I feel really comfortable about writing and making notations in this one LOL.

I really recommend this Bible because this is very readable and understandable translation with many suggestions. I am reading this Bible everyday.

Product as described easy to read text with helpful additional passages

Very useful bible when you need to find a passage for help or for information. Really easy to use with a huge index at the front. The bible is at the back and is crossed referenced to the index. Not a bible to read from front to back but a really good bible when you need to find words of comfort or discover what the bible says on a certain subject.
