The Amityville Horror

This book provides a lot of interesting details about the famous Amityville Horror haunting. I've seen the movies and I found those details very interesting. It's interesting also how people take a book and turn it into a movie. I've experienced what I guess could be called paranormal things so I have no doubt that this story is true.Skeptics say it was all made up but it's not that easy to create a story like this which matches up with real events. It should be easy to verify many aspects of this case such as the Lutz family purchasing the house but then fleeing for their lives a few short weeks later without ever returning to collect their belongings.As far as I know the Lutz family never really benefited from this book or anything else associated with their harrowing experiences. To me they should have benefited from it somehow since they were the ones who experienced it.Hauntings like this can happen when something dark occurred on the land or in the house in the past. It could be a murder, suicide, some other tragedy, or devil worship. This case has some of those things. A Native American tribe felt the land is cursed and they would put insane people there to die. Also there was a hidden room down in the basement with the walls painted all red. Something went on in this room where people were killing animals including pigs as part of their Satanic rituals.There's an interesting subplot where a Catholic priest comes under physical attack from the demonic forces in the house. This priest mysteriously came down with flu like symptoms multiple times and his hands got all blistered.The forces that were active in this house when the Lutz family was living there are dangerous I believe. Kathy Lutz's mother was a very devout Catholic. The mother, the tormented priest, and others started warning the family to get the Hell out of the house.I felt the book is well written and provides a lot of interesting information about this case. I recommend this book to students of the occult and the paranormal. Just recently I read the Amityville Horror, I have seen the movies (both the origial and the remake that came out last year). I have to say that both movies were good and both had different versions, but not even the movies compare to the real horror of the book.The original book was very hard to find for a long time, finally I brought it use and read it for the first time just before the new remake came out. I am not the type of person who gets frighten easliy, there have been a few books and movies that have (The Exorcist, Night of the Living Dead as for movies and for books, Demonologist by Ed and Lorraine Warren, Beware of the Night and this book). I love to read and if the book catches my attention it is hard for me to put down, however this book did, it took me 2 weeks to finish reading it, I had to keep putting it down. I remember as a kid and seeing this story about this haunted house on the show called "That's incredible" and remember hearing about the pig with red eyes etc... Then a few years back I saw the original movie and that scare me a bit, then I brought this book called the "The Demonlogist" by Ed and Lorraine Warren and they had gone to the house and investigated the paranormal. However, I was very excited to be able to finally reading this book for the first time, and I was not disappointed at all. I went to see the remake and believe me both movies have nothing to do with the book at all. It's no wonder why Mr. Lutz is suing MGM for the remake. The original tends too a little not all and the Remake, has nothing to do with the book or with the Lutz family at all. Harry the dog was not butchered by George Lutz, in the remake you see Ryan Reynolds hatch the poor dog, nor does the little girl climb on the roof and jump or that the kids father is dead.If you are interested in finding out the truth to what happen to the Lutz family the 28 days they were living in their house, read the book, don't go by what the movies states. The only thing that the both the movies and the book have in common is that yes Ronnie De Feo shot his family to death, the Lutz moved in the house a year later and that only 28 days later they fled. And Jodi is not a little girl (remake) it's the pig with the red eyes. The Book outdones both movies.A MUST read for anyone who is interested in the paranormal.

I have actually only recently finished this book. I have to say that I stayed up until 3am last Snday morning reading it. I couldn't put it down!Although, as far as I can remember, this story has been disproven, I still found it a scary read and somewhere in the back of my mind there was a part of me that kept telling me it was real.In part I put that down to the author, who relates the story in such a way that it is completely believable. His prose style is such that it adds a air of "menace" to the story which leaves the reader wanting to know what happened.If you've seen the film(s) and think you know the story, think again. the films do not do the story justice and there are more scares in the book that in the films.If you have an interest in the "goings-on" at 112 Ocean Avenue, then buy this book and read. It may not change your mind, but it's an entertaining read, none the less.

Cercavo questo libro tradotto in italiano, ma non esiste, quindi mi sono accontentata della lingua inglese.Il libro è piccolo e in carta riciclata, al tatto sembra fragile, infatti l'ho rivestito con una copertina in plastica.Per chi sa l'inglese, ed è un amante degli horror, questo libro non può perderselo!! L'ho adorato!!! Riesce a tenerti sulle spine e a darti un'ansia incredibile.

A los que nos gusta el genero de terror poco podemos decir sobre este libro. Lastima que en Español este descatalogado, compra recomendada

On ne présente plus l'affaire d'Amityville : en 1974, Ronald "Butch" Junior DeFeo assassine toute sa famille pendant leur sommeil à la carabine. S'ensuit l'emménagement d'une autre famille qui sera vite troublée par des phénomènes paranormaux…Trois ans plus tard sortira ce livre écrit par Jay Anson, puis deux après le film "La Maison Du Diable" reprenant ce récit extraordinaire… et troublant.Concernant justement ce livre, il est très bien écrit, les phrases ne sont pas trop compliquées à comprendre et il y a un maintien du suspense qui est à saluer car ne va pas vers l'abus d'horreur.Le seul truc est que mon exemplaire reçu est l'original en anglais, donc à éviter pour ceux préférant rester au français.Un indispensable pour tous les amateurs de paranormal.

Das Buch ist zwar in englisch, lässt sich aber für Leute mit normalen Englischkenntnissen gut lesen. Ob das nun wirklich auf wahren Begebenheiten beruht oder nicht, es ist spannend und gruselig. Ich fands top!
