A great story with lovely pictures. Useful for discussing feelings and science (cloud formation!) and has a great happy ending.

Cyril the Lonely Cloud
No-one is ever pleased to see Cyril the Cloud, but he keeps on searching for a friendly smile, will he ever find one? This is a simple picture book story of Cyril the Cloud who is looking for a place to belong, but no-one is ever happy to see him because he rains on everything. However, he eventually finds somewhere where they are desperate for it to rain, and he finally fits in.The illustrations are bright, colourful and eye-catching and the story does give you something to talk about with your little one - Why aren't people always happy to see Cyril? Why do you think Cyril is getting bigger? I really like how the colours change as Cyril travels on his journey.Overall - a nice simple story, with a nice message.

Beautiful book about finding your place in the world
This is a beautiful hardback book, suitable for kids aged 3 upwards. It tells the story of a cloud who feels unwanted, because nobody is ever happy to see a cloud. The cloud ends up running away to a hot country, where people are glad to see him because he brings shade and rain. The cloud is happy and realises he just had to find the right place for him.The pictures are beautiful - lots of animals and flowers too - and the text is large and easy to read, with not too much on any page. It's a story both sad and joyful, and with a nice moral. You can easily have a little chat about the story with kids after reading too. Lovely book.

Lovely story about finding your place with some hints about the water cycle
This is a book I would definitely recommend for children who feel out of place and for libraries/educators preparing to teach water cycles as a metaphor for finding the place or space within you are valued and to give hints about the water cycle with clouds moving and picking up water to rain over the land.Cyril is very sad that no one seems to enjoy his presence until he arrives over a baking hot and dry land. With Tim Hopgood’s wonderful style this book feels like a wonderful event to read because of the gorgeous art and detail and the large format makes it extra special
