Pentra-Bark Penetrating Surfactant (16oz/Pint)

This is the second container we have purchased. We live in an area where the ground iron is depleted, so adding this to the soil about the elm tree was vital. We added it near the trunk at the beginning of the summer on the recommendation of a tree specialist. Amazingly, by end of summer the new leaves had a touch of green. We just added it again at end of summer further out from the trunk (arborists call it the umbrella of the tree). We made a core sample hole, then filled the hole with diluted pentra-bark. We are hoping to save the tree as the one planted next to it died as it was beginning to leaf out. Time will tell.

We have a lovely 50 plus foot tall oak that is clearly under stress from what we believe may be sudden oak death disease. It is hard to treat larger trees because the bark can keep the treatment from penetrating, making soaking the roots in expensive chemicals to the point of run off one of the few options. Pentra-bark allows the treatment to get past the bark and into the tree. Our tree is near water making the soaking option a bad environmental choice.Using Pentra-bark and a fungicide called Reliant (also from this company) we have been able to treat our tree. As I mentioned in my review of Reliant, the gentleman I spoke to in the company's customer service department was truly knowledgeable and helpful. We discussed the tree and how to best treat it, confirming as much as possible over the phone that we were on the right path. If this tree survives after its year of treatments, that gentleman and the company's products get a good share of the credit.

I used the Pentra-bark with a insect killer to treat a small tree with a borer. The Pentra-bark enables better absorption through the bark of the tree. It still took 2 treatments but the borer is now showing no sign of being present. Did Pentra-bark make the different - I don't know but it certainly didn't hurt in my view.

I purchased the larger size pint bottle as it contains 10 - 1.6 oz portions to use with 1 pt of Monterey Brand Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide for non-invasive prophylactic for fungal disease.

I used Pentra-Bark with Zylam on my ash trees. They are huge trees & infected with emerald ash borer. A lot of branches have died. This is a last ditch effort. Only time will tell if it works. It should have been put on in the spring & we will do it again then.

I called the manufacturer before purchasing this but it seems the pseudomonas is still spreading on my japanese maples. I mixed it with copper sulphate but not sure if this combination is working. If the scenario is not improving I'm returning this
