Not as useful as Lorain’s “Backpacking” series. But may be what a dayhiker is looking for...
I bought this book hoping for something similar to his “Backpacking xxx” series. I was disappointed. While this covers about 5-6 times the number of locations/trips, I found it to be cluttered and lacking in the depth found in his other works. Of course this lack of depth is necessary in a book covering 100 hikes instead of 20 or so, but to me, it is simply less useful this way. This is not to say that this book is not well-researched. Like his other works, it obviously is. It is just impossible to pack that much info about so many trails into a book this size. Sorry, I love his other books, I wanted to love this one, but I really wish he would make a “Backpacking Montana” version. Please Doug?? Not to say this is a useless book or anything, I’ll still use it to find a nice backpacking route or two. I tend to go for the longer 3-7 day backpacking trips, but if you are more of a dayhiker, this is probably what you are looking for.

Great for locals and tourists alike
Being a local to Glacier it is great to discover new trails and read about ones I hadn't taken YET! This books helps me discover new ones.
