Simple story, nice illustrations. Great book.
This is the perfect book for my son and me. We have enjoyed a weekly father-son breakfast since he was 2 years old. This book captures the nice feeling of sharing a simple tradition of breakfast. The bonus in the book and for us is that we are not the only ones enjoying this tradition; the people we see each week have now seen us for years and they anticipate our breakfast just as much.As an artist, I can appreciate Dan's beautiful, simple illustrations. And as a kid, my son can, too.Thank you, Dan, for making this book.

A sweet story
This is such a sweet book. I bought it for my friends who are expecting their first son soon, and read/loved it before giving it to them. The story is sweet and simple and the book is big with pictures. Something for everyone to love!

Great book.... Great illsutrations
I like this book a lot because it feels very NYC centric and I can imagine doing all the things in it with my child when he's older. Until then, I'll read about it.

Fun and Inspiring
This is a sweet little book for toddlers on up. The story line is touching and has inspired my husband to take my 3 1/2 year old son to breakfast once a week by themselves. They have only done it for the past two weeks, but they've had a good time and my son talks about it for days afterwards. One of the few children's books that might end up being life-changing!

Classic
This is one of my 20-mo-old son's favorites. The storyline is simple, (a man and his son walking to the diner for breakfast), but it highlights many city sights that toddlers find interesting: counting the dogs, waving hello to people, watching construction workers, etc. The premise of the story is rather sweet, as well. Delightful.

Great book!
My husband reads this book to our 4 1/2 yr old every night. He absolutely LOVES it! He really likes it because he and my husband also have there own special day (Sunday morning) where they go to get donuts. I would highly recommend this book to any parent with a young son who shares a close bond with Daddy!!

Just right length for toddlers
Yaccarino has a smoothing style of illustrations. What my 2-year-old likes the most about the story though is that it's just right amount of words for her. Although it's a good story, my daughter didn't bond with the story like those kids did in other reviews.

Beautifully Illustrated
This book is a throwback to gentler times. My son thinks that the boy is him and the father is his own. It even looks like the two of them, and they have, indeed, gone to a diner together on occasion. Just a sweet story of a son anticipating the time he has with Daddy.

I wish the story was longer
It could tell more about the son and father's adventures and relationship. The book was too short to really tell the story. It was to short to bring out the emotions out of someone.
