A Must Have For You Child's Collection
My child has over 100 books, probably more like 200 but I've lost count. I'm a firm believer in buying physical books and limiting her tablet/screentime. This book is absolutely one of her favorites. We are not of Hispanic heritage but I wanted to intoduce my child to other languages so this book has both English and Spanish words so that she can read the English version then try to read the Spanish version. She picked up on the similarities of both languages and noticed on her own that some words look and sound similar. It's actually fun for both of us to read the book together and the more we read it I think I'm learning Spanish as well. I hope you find this review useful so please consider dropping a thumbs up.

A cute story
I thought this was a cute story. I like that it was bilingual and that I could use it for my students who may also be bilingual. The characters were 2 sweet little boys who were charming as they had fun playing with their kite on the beach. The pictures are well illustrated and help move the story along. However, the story is a bit confusing. Obviously, the grandparents have passed but it isn't said. It makes it sound almost like grandpa could be hiding in town or living somewhere else. The macaw speaks which would lead some kids to believe that it is an actual bird and not a kite as the story walks the line between realistic fiction and fiction. The kite flies into town to save them but really just flies around and that part isn't well developed. Trust me when I say, kids will point out these things, too. Especially in a classroom of 30 when they start discussing the book. Therefore, it's a cute story and if it is just for a fun read, it works. It just left me wanting a bit more.

Awesome!
This is a wonderful bilingual book!I saw people were complaining about it being hard to follow but of course, this book is a bilingual text and we know the structure for bilingual texts always looks different. Also, I see this text as more of a paired reading so of course, the adult will guide the child as they are reading.I loved the illustrations and the storyline was very fun to read.

Magical book!
What a magical book!!!My daughters who are 5 and 7 are obsessed with The Adventures of Mr. Macaw. It was beautifully illustrated and very well written by the author. My girls ask me and my wife to read it everyday. We need more books like this that feature diverse characters. A proud moment for our family is when my older daughter shouted, “Daddy, those kids in this book look like me.”We also love that there is a Spanish translation on each page. We are excited for our daughters to pick up some Spanish along the way.We will be looking for more books from Leticia Ordaz. We highly recommend it for families looking for great books.

Gorgeous book with an endearing message!
I'm so happy I finally had the opportunity to read The Adventures of Mr. Macaw! I must first say, "What a gorgeous book!" The vibrant colors help to bring the story to life. What's more, at the heart of the story is an endearing message of community and togetherness. When Mr. Macaw is lost in a storm, an entire village comes to the aid of two young boys who have lost more than their kite but a beloved family friend. If you want a feel good read that will leave you wanting to hear the next adventure of this magical bird, this story is it! We loved it! Congrats to this author!

My son loves Mr. Macaw
My son loves this book, it's one of his favorites. He likes the vivid colors on every page, especially the design of Mr. Macaw himself. He likes all the characters in the book, and the beach setting. We also love that the book is bilingual, we want him to learn Spanish as well and having the option to use a book he's really interested in, is great. We are very happy with this purchase and look forward to future books from this author.

Great Illustrations!
This was a fun read about a magical guardian kite that looks like a Macaw. I particularly loved the illustrations and that it is bilingual. It was a fun cheerful story that focused more on the magic of this old kite than it solving or protecting the villagers in a storm (like I had thought it would). This book would be a great gift with a kite that looks like a bird.

Beautiful Story!
Such a lovely dual language story about the adventures of Mr. Macaw. Children will love the colourful illustrations that swoop and fly across each page of this story.
