Engine Coolant Thermostat

This thermostat failed in the closed position causing the vehicle to overheat after less than 3 weeks. I could not recommend this product.

This thermostat doesn't have the gasket on it. It will not seal in your housing, and won't work

Overheating. Doing the drill. Changed Motorad 16 psi rad cap swapping previous same brand and type installed only two years ago. Also installed new UltraStat 195F Thermostat bought weeks ago May 2023. Still overheating after radiator flush. Before installing new, took out original Motorad and tested it. Worked fine with older copper/brass fittings vs newer stainless steel (cheaper with what looks like black plastic ring inside). Repulled new thermostat to flush engine again in prep to install new radiator and fan clutch and when cool noticed it was not closed all the way. (?) Tested it with old one both same time in boiling water along with the old. The original still performed as it should being many years older. Retracting instantly to air temperature while the new one clicked incrementally as it retracted. But could not close all the way. Wanted a Stant. Good product/U.S. made before they were bought out by Motorad. Now they control almost all of the marketshare but buyer-beware. They're cheaping out to maximize profits. Same old story.
