Q: The plugs/screws provided are short, the original screws are 3". When i try to fix either of the plugs, it come out, ceramic more than 2" thick.

I would be surprised if the ceramic is as thick as you say. It is probably a hollow casting with the wall about 15mm. With the fixings provide I would still expect them to expand when tightened and provide sufficient grip. You do not have to access the end of the fixing as it is a blind fiking.

Q: Can I just replace toilet seat as I already have soft close toilet lid

It all depends on whether the lid will fit the new seat. It is not a matter of measurements being appropriate, but it also depends on the securing arrangements of the lid being suitable for the same arrangements for the seat. I was not aware that you can buy just the seat.

Q: How far apartis fixing distance?

On mine 15cm apart. However the hole and seat fittings can be adjusted to fit most if not all toilet pans. It's a great product. Definitely worth buying.

Q: Lid bangs against cistern when you get up of the seat

Try adjusting it's fit on the toilet by loosening it and sliding it back as it sounds like it's to far forwards.
