Excellent starter keyboard and MIDI controller on a budget
I bought this keyboard for self-contained piano lessons for my son and I, a decent harpsichord tone, and as a MIDI keyboard with non-weighted and non-velocity sensitive (synth action) for use with a desktop computer. For all of these uses, this keyboard performs very well. I wanted to spend as little as possible and get the best performance, and I feel that this keyboard fits the bill. I have owned various Casio products in the past and find most of them to be quite innovative and high quality. The keys have a sturdy feel and all of them offer the same resistance. I did not need or want weighted or velocity sensitive keys, because I prefer a nice even volume level when played across the keyboard. The built-in sounds are quite adequate and some of them are great. In MIDI operation using a USB cable I had lying around, the keyboard was immediately recognized on my PC running Windows 10 Preview and I could assign it to virtual instruments. Since most of the virtual instruments I use are synthesizers or ethnic, the synth action of the keys is preferred. In terms of using the keyboard for piano instruction, I plan to use the built-in tools and outside resources. From what I have seen of these features, I am impressed. It shows you exactly what keys are pressed and when. I am amazed at all the features that are included at this price level. I get a 61-key MIDI keyboard for less than stand alone models cost and I get many other self-contained features too.

Casio CTK-2400 vs the Yamaha YPT240
I needed a 61 key digital keyboard and I was on a tight budget. What I wanted (in order) was:* Price under $100* 4 Star rating on Amazon* Full-sized keys* Touch sensitive keys* MIDI interface* AC Power supplyAs the song says, though, you can't always get what you want. At this price point, you are not going to find a model with touch-sensitive keys. If your budget can stand it, I would recommend considering the step-up models: either the Casio CTK4400 or the Yamaha YPT340.Note: one of the answered questions for this product incorrectly states the CTK-2400 has touch-sensitive keys. A visit to the Casio web site will reveal that this statement is incorrect. My choice boiled down to the Casio CTK-2400 and the Yamaha YPT240. I chose the Casio, for the following reasons.First, the Yamaha keyboard does not come with an AC power supply. The Casio does (it's packed in a cavity inside one of the foam shipping pads at the bottom of the box, so don't throw out the box before you locate the power supply).Second, MIDI support for the Yamaha looked a bit dicey. Yamaha recommends downloading a driver from their support page. You can find it here: http://download.yamaha.com/search/detail/?language=en&site=usa.yamaha.com&asset_id=65807&category_id=16084&product_id=1789583&1441118846One of the reviewers had trouble getting the computer to recognize the YPT240, and declared Yamaha support to be lacking. These factors tipped the balance for me in favor of the Casio.By the way, when I plugged the Casio into a Windows 7 64-bit laptop, Windows found and loaded the drivers within a few minutes. Also, note that neither the Casio nor the Yamaha comes with a USB cable. Both keyboards have with features that may or may not be of interest to you. For example, the Casio has a sampling microphone and the Yamaha interfaces to iPhones and iPads. If you find one of these features compelling, then you have found your keyboard. Finally, if your budget can stand the extra cost, I strongly recommend looking at either of the the step-up models. You won't regret being able to play with touch-sensitive keys.

Great keyboard for starting out, very good value for the features
It's my first keyboard, as an adult learning to play piano. It is light and easy to take to class, though I wish there was a removeable handle/strap on the back side (i.e. thumbscrews for a handstrap). For my home, the volume level is plenty, but I understand why others would find it insufficient for gigs. Just plug it into an amp and the problem is solved. The audio sample function is fun to use, for spontaneous hilarity, but the mic element must be dynamic, because I have to be extremely close to get a sample record with any useful playback volume to it.The instruments are fine, though don't expect to hear a beautiful Steinway when you play it. The organ instruments are fine. Most of the rest are either variants of generic instruments or just weird-sounding. The rhythms are fine, though to me they are really just a crutch for playing, rather than being part of a performance. The keys feel very linear in response, with no dynamics. It's fine for me as a learner, but the first time I sat down to play my teacher's upright piano, I was not ready for the heavier, non-linear feel of the hammer action of an acoustic piano. So my piano lessons tend to sound worse because I practice on this keyboard. Oh well. The display includes a grand staff, showing where each key lands when pressed. For those who are less confident, it is a way to compare played chords to how they are written in the sheet music. For training, it also has icons of hands that leverage the built-in songs and song book, to teach finger positions. I didn't find myself embracing these features.I added a sustain pedal from Amazon, no issue whatsoever. I haven't tried the USB-PC connection, since I don't know anything about MIDI.At the end of the day, it is what I need to learn piano, without blowing a ton of money on a product I won't fully appreciate.

Great for the price
I use it at home since I don't have room for a piano in my current house. All the keys work and are semi weighted keys make it easier to transfer over to a piano. I think it is a good first piano and use it to teach my nieces. Also, I love the song book that goes with it. It has a lot of my favorite songs in it.UPDATE: Two years later and I still love this piano. It's great for teaching younger children without worrying about it getting destroyed. The sound is still the same and looks almost exactly how I bought it two years ago.

This keyboard is lovely in every way. Get it!
At first I was aiming for a midi keyboard for my studio but after seen and red about Casio’s CTK2400 features and abilities I decided to go for a regular music keyboard. I’m not a professional musician so I wouldn’t in anyway go to an expensive one. I just wanted a descent full 61 keys keyboard to have some rhythms and basic drum set on it for creating music, jingles, productions e.t.c.Also I was between a Casio and another brand but as I have written in another review as well, I don’t like when a well known brand gets “cheap” materially with a product (model) in order to sell it and also because I worked in my studio with a borrowed Casio keyboard before, so I knew about the creativity of the company and that's why I decided to go with Casio. And this Casio keyboard not only has 150 rhythms to choose but also has 400 AHL keyboard voices and tones and a “dream” I always wanted (and seen in the 90s in only professional keyboards that had a cost about $1500-$2000 then; Stevie Wonder had a keyboard like that in the 90s); and that is the voice sampling feature so you can record your voice and afterwards play it on the keys. And beyond that nowadays that every device musical or not has a USB port for connection to a computer you can do even more things with it such as recording digitally to a hard drive or choosing more rhythms and voices e.t.c.I also have a big craze with big pianos and I love everything about them. So one thing I saw on this keyboard you don’t find easy even on expensive keyboards are the real piano (closed-type) long keys! It’s like you play a real piano! Incredible touch sensation..Finally, truly I didn’t expect to find generally a keyboard in this prize range (starting from $100), so when I did and I found out that it also covers all the above features I didn’t hesitate at all and bought it!And I’m so happy I did!Wanna know a little secret? This keyboard can also be connected to an iPad with the help of a camera accessory adapter that ends to a USB connector. So by downloading a keyboard amp you can do great things there too.Very happy, very satisfied. Totally recommended to anyone.. Buy it! You won’t regret it at all..A money well spent, what so ever!!

The product is very sturdy and solid
The product is very sturdy and solid. It is also quite large, much larger than i had anticipated, and as such, it weighs quite a bit too. I bought this for my sister, and its just a touch heavy for her to carry around. The only thing i did not like about this product, is that the adapter length is very small. I literally have to sit on the floor at times depending which room i am in, because the adapter cable does not reach my bed or sofa. That is the only inconvenience i found. If you have a stationary location where you will be keeping this, then its great, but if you are like me and will be using it in different areas, then the shortness of the adapter cable can cause some difficulties. Easy fix would be to use an extension cord i guess.

Perfect for beginners!
As someone who has never touched a piano before, this little thing is amazing! I love how "real" it sound and It has a million cool features and sounds that make practicing more interesting and stimulating. I got it on discount through Amazon Warehouse Deals, and it came in PERFECT condition, I couldn't even find the supposed "cosmetic blemish" it has, totally pristine! I absolutely recommend this keyboard to anyone looking to test the waters of piano. I have found it to be very soothing and almost therapeutic. The only thing I dislike about the keyboard is that hitting the keys harder or softer doesn't change the sound, soft A, medium A, and Hard A, all sound the same but I think that's to be expected with an electronic keyboard. Not a huge issue if you're just learning, but something to keep in mind!

A very good deal
Very happy with this keyboard. Was delivered quickly, in perfect condition, and it's an amazing 'player'. One note: Some reviews claim that a usb connecting cable is included. My Casio CTK-2400 came with the AC-adapter (power cord) and nothing else in the way of cables. Good instruction manual, and the package even includes a dandy music book...
