Great upgrade for a vintage car
I bought this to install into my vintage 63 Austin Healey 3000 sports car. Before purchasing I called Pertronix to be sure it would fit. Their Tech was extremely helpful and assured it would work with some modification to the drive. Using parts from the original distributor which were attached with pins and re-pined to the Pertronix it is now in the Healey and working very well.Update11-4-14. Although the the distributor is functioning very well. Yesterday I noticed engine oil dripping from one of the holes in the bottom of the housing. I presume the oil is wicking or pressured up the drive stem to where it is dripping out. I was down a half quart on the dip stick. I emailed Petronics support. I will post with their response.

The install of this Pertronix distributor into my 1960 Jaguar 3.8 Mark IX was a very easy endeavor. If you can do a distributor swap on a car engine, this is as easy as it gets. The fit is excellent and the performance of this distributor is as good as it gets.Seldom can one take the words "Plug and Play" literally, but with this product it is true. The only caveat is you must know how to time the engine after a distributor replacement and you may have a little difficulty swapping the plug wires to the conventional style distributor cap. And make sure you get the two low tension coil wires on the coil in the proper order of polarity.I had extreme difficulties with the Pertronix Ignitor conversion for the original DMBZ6A (wire through the bottom) distributor, so i went for this drop-in-whole-distributor approach and it works well.In 55 years of gear-head car work, i have never seen a distributor put out (under coil test) a spark more than 3/4 inch long. This unit, along with the Pertonix Flamethrower coil, shot out a snappy blue spark more than one inch long.The Jag and i have about ten hours driving time on this new distributor and no issues so far.

NOT ENOUGH INFO
The distributor is essentially a great product; however, I purchased this item assuming it was replacement for the original Lucas 25D 4-cylinder distributor. Nowhere in the advertisement did it mention it was actually a replacement for a 6-cylinder distributor. So, I returned it to Amazon and never actually used it.
