Fantastic Resource
Dr. Block has used his experience to develop a fantastic model (Mind Body Bridging) for understanding and addressing the source of much of our suffering. I have used these ideas and strategies in my life to find a greater degree of peace. I find the awareness practices and the understanding of the way it helps to engage my executive functioning network very helpful in quieting the busyness of my brain. I also have found that the mapping exercises help me to find those triggering thoughts, that start to get my busy mind to spinning, and to defuse them and render them powerless. This knowledge has been very empowering to me as I no longer feel a slave to my thoughts and emotions. After using these principals in my own life, I have successfully shared them with others, thanks to the systematic process spelled out in Dr. Block's books. I have also used these new found tools (awareness practices, thought labeling and mind mapping), to help me understand and implement suggests I have found in other teachings, such as, Be in the Now, and Don't Take anything Personally, etc. This is great advice, but difficult before my regular use of mindfulness awareness practices, and mapping my thoughts to find my underlying "Requirements" (which had previously been the cause of my personalizing things). This book helps to look at the root of stress and address the issue there, instead of distracting or treating the symptoms. I highly recommend it as well as Dr. Block's book, Come to Your Senses: Demystifying the Mind Body Connection I hope this review is helpfulDirk Shumway

So healing
So healing and great way to understand MBB, especially if you will be a therapist teaching it/ utilizing it with clients. I highly recommend this. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I think it's over-priced (but it's probably over-priced everywhere).

Extremly Effective
I am a mental health therapist and have been using these tools in my own life and with my clients for the past 6 months. For me personally I have noticed a big change in the ability to "let go" of the stress at work and enjoy life. The same tools I teach my clients to use I also use daily . I love that these tools can be used by anyone and everyone. They are not just for people who are in the depths of despair. Conversely, they can also be extremely effective with those that are really struggling in life. Mind Body Bridging is a tool ANYONE can use.The workbook is very clearly laid out. The skills are laid out in a way that are easily understood and implemented into daily life. I have recommended this workbook to many people.

Most accessible book on stress management I've found
Recommend the Mind-Body Workbook for Stress without reservation to anyone looking to manage anxiety and stress. As a busy, working parent with time limitations, I appreciated the concise length and flow of background information and practices in each chapter. I found it the most accessible -- much, much easier to digest and integrate -- than other mindfulness books, as well as other books on anxiety/depression/stress management I tried in the past. Hands down at the top of my list in this category.

Everyone has stress, everyone should buy this book
At the office we have all 5 Mind-Body Workbooks. I find this one for Stress to be the most versatile book to use with my clients. It explains stress in such a way it is easy comprehend and easy to implement interventions for change from the very first chapter.

Not so fond of this.
I do not like this book. Perhaps it is simply because I am not fond of workbooks, but I always want lots of useful information. This is about calming oneself down. I think I do not have the patience to do the exercises over and over when I am really stressed.

umm.. this book is changing my life - and i've tried them all
uh, i have tried everything.i'm not sure whether it is a matter of 'when the pupil is ready, the master appears' (old martial arts or zen saying)...but i've tried EVERYTHING from ACT to EFT to (gasp) tony robbins, tracing back to albert ellis, and the Becks... Nothing. Worked.I came to hate Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, and tried EFT instead.Anyways. all i can say is that THIS ONE IS WORKING. This book, is amazing. it is helping. tremendously. wow.clearly the authors have narrowed down what actually works... no mention of 'following your breath' (mindfulness fad going on in psychology right now)... instead it is about getting in touch with your senses. but that is only part of the solution - to balance the internal world with some external observations, to slow things down, and get a handle on whats going on- my view..Advice for readers: pay CLOSE attention to the definitions of the terms given. i went a few chapters thinking i 'knew' what a requirement was, what requirement recognition was, only to find myself going back to realize 'aha!' that i had it wrong.the research that has produced this book is tremendous. it is, bang on. i'm halfway through it. and it is changing my life. it really is. i cant tell you how much i've suffered up to this point, with very little in terms of results from therapies, or books.. i must have read over 50. i've read all the emotion regulation and self regulation handbooks. everything by the CBT world and by les greenberg. maybe all that gave me the right foundation. whatever the case... this one is it.
