This 256 page book is a must for any collector of short poems. Manu Bazzano and illustrator Andre' Sollier have teamed up to create a simply beautiful book in black and white and shades of gray. The book is a mix of haiku,senryu, tanka and other pems with a definite "zen" feeling. A variety of authors are included and express the "zen" spirit. I enjoyed this book so much that I have included it in my personal home library and have given it as a gift.

Beautiful and evocative. How lovely to be able to paint a picture in a few words. All the poems are well chosen.

I guess I haven't developed a taste for Zen Poems because I didn't find anything written in this book that really 'wow-ed' me. Some of the drawings are superb, it's just that the text is not to my taste. Poems such as:Summer grasses--all that remainsof soldiers' visions.Out in the cold sunshineplanting potatoesuncertain who I am.Dragonfly on a rock--absorbed ina daydream.just do not strike a cord, or accord, in me.Not being familiar with this type of writing it didn't come as much of a surprise that, aside from Emily Dickinson and William Blake (I didn't know that they were considered 'Zen poets'), most of the contributors are not familiar names to me; however, considering there are over 200 poems I would have thought I might have seen some of these before.In the end, this is not my cup of tea - perhaps I was looking for Chai and I found Oolong?

This is a nice collection of poems and thoughts, although if you've read this genre before I doubt you'll find anything new here. What I really love about it are the illustrations by Andre Solier. I think his work is breathtaking - simple, elegant, often unexpected. This is what makes the book special - beautiful poetry complimented by wonderful and original black ink paintings.

This is a wonderful little book of haiku and ink paintings. It is in perfect condition........great as a gift and a good price, arrived promptly in sensible packaging.

This is a beautiful book. It is illustrated with appropriate pictures and the poems are nice, too. I would recommend it to everyone interested in Haiku.
