Cardas Audio Male RCA to Female XLR Adapters (MRCA-FXLR) - 2 Pieces (1 Pair)

If you've been thinking about converting a balanced audio signal to a non-balanced (RCA) one, then you have a dozen or so choices out there, ranging from some very expensive devices ($600 to $1000+), or you can get some very cheap devices that may be questionable, as far as maintaining high audio quality levels are concerned.After spending some time reviewing many devices, I took the chance of ordering a pair of these Cardas Balanced to Unbalanced Audio converter adapters. My setup includes a Nobsound XLR switcher. I have a DAC going into the switcher, and on the other end (3 output devices), I have 2 XLR balanced power amps attached. With the 3rd output open, I wanted to use a really good conventional unbalanced power amp, but first, I realized I had to convert the balanced signal into a non-balanced one. I connected the Cardas device to the XLR switcher box, and the other end has an RCA male output. The Cardas clamps on very snugly (no wobbly movements), and then I used a female to female RCA connector, connecting an audiophile level RCA cable to that. The resultant converted sound quality was superb. My conventional amp had even less noise or hum now than I previously noticed with it.So it became immediately obvious that the Cardas converter (a pair of them) were worth the just slightly over $100 price tag. Now do be advised that if your audio components are placed very close to a wall (like a few inches), the Cardas adapters are 2 inches long, and they are solid and stick out a bit, so keep that in mind.I highly recommend this Cardas pair of adapters. Don't hesitate one bit about getting them because they should fulfill all or most of your audio expectations.

These are great adapters. I have used them before in different AV equipment. However, if your RCA in/out connections are too close together, these will not fit. They are a little bit wide, and I’m sure that is due to the fact that they need to accommodate a larger XLR connection on one end. If you have the space - and you want to keep your good XLR cables - give these a try.

I took the plunge and I’ll be damned. quite the noticeable improvement over the cheap converters. I disagree with the reviewer who deemed these a “gadget”. if you have quality xlr cables and an amp that has rca only inputs why not use a quality converter? this cardas converter is just that - quality. recommended.

Fantastic build quality and firmness of connection. Zero shift in place of the component or of itself. Cardas manufactures well-developed audio accessories across the board and this is no exception. I found it completely transparent to the $900 AQ Colorado XLR cables it fed from, and will enable me some freedom to use these in conjunction with a RCA / SE connection, and then disconnect them when I buy a differential power amplifier with XLR connections.

Converting XLR to RCA completely eliminates the benefit provided by an XLR cable. If you have to do it no need to spend this much money though it is a high quality adapter. Just doesn't make sense to covert your XLR with $100+ adapters just so you can lose the benefits of your XLR cable
