These collars have put me at ease with my Cairn Terriers who seem to get into trouble chasing vermin around our farm. Before we had these it was a miracle we found one of ours one day as her collar was stuck around a small tree sticking out of the ground and she couldn't get unstuck. However, because they do come off when they get stuck I have had to purchase a few additional ones. But apparently they did their job!

Break-a-Way Function is perfect. I clipped only one D Ring to the leash, then anchored the leash to a table, to test the collar. I walked out of the pup’s sight - it took him less than 30 seconds to break free and come find me. Very happy to know if he gets hung up on anything, he’ll easily break free. Both D Rings are clipped when walking on the leash, since that’s when I never want him to break away.Some reviewers complained that the D Rings are too far apart to clip together. I keep a carabiner on the leash clip, and it reaches both D Rings easily.

This is an absolutely true review by a real purchaser of this collar and owner of 3 dogs. This collar saved my dog from serious injury. My 18 pd. Schoodle was racing up some flagstone steps. His dog tag got freakishly caught in a crack on the edge of one of the steps. This collar broke away and he kept running. If he had had a normal collar on he would have been jerked back so hard our Vet said it would have caused serious injury to his neck. I bought this collars to prevent out dogs' collars from getting stuck on fences, latches etc. I never expected it would save one of my dogs the way it did.

A little wide for small dogs. Wish it was available in 1/2” wide or a little less.

I liked this collar more than I thought I would! I was nervous about the breakaway feature for walks but with the 2 clips on either side of the breakaway part I feel very safe using it. Would definitely reccomend!

We have three smaller dogs that like to wrestle, and they like to grab each other's collars. These work like they should, break away when the play gets too rough and give us a ton of peace of mind that no one gets hurt. There are two rings that a leash clasp goes through so that you can still use them like any other collar when walking them.

This collar is exactly what I was looking for! Simple, sturdy and it gives me peace knowing my pup is safe at home when I am not there. When the collar first arrived I thought the release mechanism was a little too difficult for a puppy to escape from (if she was to be stuck by her collar). I worked the collar for a bit by pulling it open and re-clipping it and it seemed to loosen enough for me to be confident that my puppy could escape on her own if needed.

After hearing about a friend's personal experience with her 2 small Japanese Chins getting hung up on each other's collars while playing (one lost consciousness and had to go to ER) I decided to order these. However, I returned them. The breakaway part does not release easily. I am fairly strong and over 150lbs. I closed the collar as though it was on a dog, hooked it to something in my home that a collar could potentially get caught on, and I pulled with all my strength and weight. It took 7 seconds for the breakaway to release. My feeling is that if my 13 lb dogs got hung up on each other while wearing these collars, they would not release as they are intended to do. There are also 2 additional rings on them that a leash must be clipped to while on a walk, however, the rings create 2 more hazards for the collar to get hung up on. For small dogs, personally I believe a cat break away collar is a better choice. I wish i could share a video here which demonstrates what it takes to get these to break/release.

I had bought this before and my dog managed to lose it at a friend’s. So I bought a replacement. Meanwhile my friend finally stumbled onto it. Apparently it had gotten caught and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It broke apart. I’m really happy to know it works and she can break free if need be. However the new collar is visibly shorter. It’s not a lot, but it’s enough to make a difference in tightness around her neck. It’s almost too tight. But she’s too small for the larger size so I’m using the old one and will only use the new one if I have to. But I’m so happy to know she is strong enough to break free of it. Great product.

When my pups get to playing too hard, this collar breaks apart before it chokes. Works perfectly.

Great buy. Got this after a lady had told us at puppy traing that her two dogs had got their collars tangled and one of them nearly choked to death as they could not release them. The vet told her that dogs die mostly due to collar strangulation. Getting them caught on cages, fences and all sorts. We got one for peice of mind and were pleased with the quality and price.

The fact it will snap off if caught on something is worth everything had bad stories in the pastNo worries with this collar

I've bought this to have on hand when we pickup our new dog. So I cannot really say how it will work on him but I can say I have tried seeing how this break away collar will work by pulling on the catch mechanism and I am very pleased with the results. This is definitely something I feel confident about using.
