Use this to tie down bogs. Really. Also,... splicing.
Bogs are large, very heavy floating masses of vegetation that inhabit some of the natural lakes in Southern Minnesota. They are basically cattail reeds that have a 2-3' root mass below the visible reeds. Normally they are rooted into the lake bed with with (a) high water and (b) wind, they can break free and wander around the lake demolishing docks as they go. They are *heavy* and, while they don't move fast, momentum = mass * velocity and the mass is really, well, massive. So to secure these bogs, we push them to the side of the lake using pontoon boats, someone walks onto the bog with a sharpened 4' stake to which is tied... this polypro rope. The stake is driven into the root bed and the rope strung out and tied to something sturdy. Like a tree. This process is repeated a few times. The working load is rated at 225lb. So the breaking strain is probably three times that. You would think that this would be no match for a bog weighing several thousand tons, but what the rope does is stop it moving to begin with. Since the rope is UV resistant and waterproof it really does the trick. I use a few spools of this every season and the rope lasts pretty mush as long as the bog does.TIP #1: If the rope falls off the spool you will have a heck of time managing it. I recommend using a study stick (eg, closet pole) and rigging some stopping device at each end to allow you to reel the rope off the spool without it and the spool parting companyTIP #2: Polypro rope has some great qualities. Tying/holding a knot is not among them. Usually you have to wind around an object a few times to limit tension on the knot and then fasten with a really good length or rope in the knot OR learn how to splice the line. Splicing a polypro line is actually quite easy (there are good YouTube videos on this) and the splice holds well--better than knots anyway

Perfect for our needs.
We used the rope as a safety rope while putting our new pump in our water well. The thickness was perfect for the pulley we used, and the amount of rope was a GREAT value for the money. Definitely would buy again if needed.

Good rope
Everyone needs 600 feet of rope lying around the house, and this rope is sure good for that. I've used this everywhere. It's good for quick fixes and holds up well. Great for keeping hawks out of the chicken run too.
