I think that as we move further and further away from nature that we start missing that natural connection with the Earth that we once had. Laurie Cabot tries to help you establish connections again. While I will not use every idea I am already using some and my kids love it. We celebrate not just Holiday's but natural days of the calendar that have been celebrated for thousands of year. A great help to get you back into the natural rhythm of the world in which we live.

Ms. Cabot is the witch of Salem Mass. I need say no more and I don't have to oath bound baby. you want to see what I mean get the book and read. you will not be sorry.

Great book for lots of info on each holiday. I use to carry around 3-4 books for the info that's been crammed into this book.

I'm not a fan of the defined rituals included in the book, but over all the basic info for the holidays is good. The recipes are worth the price of the book alone, i've tried to find the sabbath cakes recipe for a couple years now and was quite happy to find it here.

It will take me a year to get through this book since I am reading this book as the seasons come but the explanations I've read so far are clear and easily understandable.

I liked this book as a reference to understanding the pagan beliefs of which I have very little knowledge. For anyone who is interested in this sort of thing it would be enlightening by giving you a different perspective of things around you, It was an easy read and yes I would recommend it.

I can't see dropping almost $20 for this book, for the size I think it should be more like $7 to $10 at the very max. It does tend to get wordy and confusing. I like it for learning the basics of the Sabbats/Esbats and, hey the pictures are pretty! ;)I've had this book for close to 10 years and still pull it out as a refresher, which it is very good for. Alas, I can't suggest a better book w/a more "biased" (read: less Celtic) approach, which is why I do recommend it for it's basic content.

I bought a tatty copy of this book, thinking (after reading other reviews) it may not be that good...but I have found it to be very good!! Yes, there are some things in the spells that would be near impossible to obtain in the UK (living wolfs hair for example) but you can substitute some of these more obscure items to make it work equally as well!This will help Wiccans as well as traditional Pagans alike. The author gives a goes explanation to the origins of each celebration etc and gives you ideas for decorating your alter, as well as recipes for suggested menus ( I loved these) as well as spells, oils candles etc etc.I found the book very informative, and I am now on the hunt for a better condition replacement, as this is a book that I shall be referring to again and again.
