Noise and glare keeps birds away...finally!
If you are reading this, we share the same bird problem. We can't shoot them with a bb gun, cause some neighbor will call the cops. We can't knock the nest, well cause that is brutal. So we will try every trick and suggestion to keep the pesky birds at bay. I've been through spikes, through owl statues, owls that bounce heads and make sounds, none really effective. (The owl statue created more problems, cause now a live owl thinks it has found a mate! But that is a separate review!)This tape rocks! It creates a glare from sun so strong, it still burns my eyes 15ft away. I've tied shorter pieces to the inner tree branches, to my shed, to railings and fence...anywhere I've seen the bird hang out. So far I think the noise and shining glare has distracted them!

Actually works!
I was skeptical when I bought this but for how cheap it was I thought I'd give it a try and boy am I glad I did! I live in a small apartment home with a balcony. I love succulents and any tree or plant that produces flowers, well, so do birds apparently. A week after I replanted my desert roses and 30+ succulents I come out to find my balcony utterly destroyed with all the plants uprooted. Devastated, I researched how to scare them away but didn't want a clunky owl or something outrageous expensive Jus to scare away birds and ducks (I live by a lake) this tape really does work! I've had it for over a week And my desert rose is finally starting to bloom(they would take the flowers off before they could even bloom) if you're skeptical as I was about this product definitely give it a try-you might be surprised how well it works for you too!

Did not work for our Woodpecker/Flicker Problems
The scare tape did not work well for our woodpecker/flicker problems. While this brand did last longer than the other two scare tape brands we tried, pieces break off easily so you will have to replace regularly. See attached picture for comparison of three brands and how much had broken off in one month. In trying this we also discovered that the wind by our house is often calm in the mornings when the woodpeckers were most active. Without the wind blowing to make the tape move the birds would peck at the house regardless of the tape being there. In the end we had to resort to installing metal bird spikes. Once we did that we have not had any more issues with the woodpeckers/flickers.

Good Scare Tape
Using the tape to keep the woodpeckers off some ductwork outside that is covered with foam insulation.Patched all the holes and put up one owl on a string to keep it moving. Worked well until the birds found blind spots away from the owl. Patched more holes. Then found this tape, used it and seemed to work. The only draw back is that it tears easy, and there seems to be a constant wind in Wisconsin. So I keep the length short like about 8" and it seems to work better, plus learning how to hang it with the wind. Also added another owl and put a 8" tape hanging on the base to give the owls "more life". The tape is very reflective and has sound which keeps the birds at bay. Overall, the combination seems to be working now.

just like flags do around flag poles
Woodpeckers had actually gone through my wood siding in several places. They have driven me crazy for a decade or more but I didn't want to kill them (probably would have shot a window out and probably illegal to boot). So I hung this up and not one peck in 2 weeks. They do have an uncanny ability to wrap up on my gutters and even the spikes that hold the gutters to the fascia, just like flags do around flag poles. I'm going to try weighting the end with some duct tape and if that doesn't work something heavier.

It really works!
We were having a terrible time with a robin attacking our windows and tried many suggestions that we found on line. Nothing worked until we hung the scare tape! The birds have not left our yard which pleases us. The tape just keeps the robin from attacking its reflection in the glass. We taped several pieces above the window so that it can blow freely in the wind. The color changes constantly and the movement is enough to keep the bird away from the window. We are very happy with the product!

Working so far to keep duck away
I purchased an owl along with scare tape to keep mated pair of mallard ducks out of pool. It's working so far this year. This is the third year they have returned. I've tried 2- 6' inflatable gators and after a while they didn't work. Next I tried plastic snakes every two feet around the pool; worked at first then ineffective. So hoping owl and tape work this year, but must have constant wind to keep tape moving or ducks will land in pool. So far it's been rainy and windy for 3 weeks and working pretty well.

Works???
Not a clue if it works but it flutters in the breeze nicely. Does it keep birds at bay that is a good question fun to watch.
