I had to spot on my head the appeared flaked off the were black underneath. Naturally i was angered because this claimed to be solid brass and not zamak but for the sake of why not (lol) i cut apart my cap and one base plate and sure enough solid brass. No false advertising here guys. Got two more coming in the mail not. I dont know what the spots where. Probably a minor qc issue but a 5 star product none the less

Best razor I have ever used (shaving for more than 50 years). Beautifully finished brass. Razor comes with two different combs which allow for a bit of customization depending on your blade and beard type. Works extremely well for me with my preferred blades (Gillette Blue). You may have to experiment with different blades to see which ones work best for you. It comes with a pack of Astra blades, but I have not tried them. A highly recommended product.

The Razor was heavy and solid brass under the plating. It looked good visually and felt solid. However, the manufacturing tolerances were poor. As stated in another review, the blade alignment was off once tightened down on the open comb plate. It required that I hold the tabs on the ends in place as I tightened the handle all the way down to achieve even close to correct alignment that was even on both sides. Then there is the actual shave. Even once aligned properly the shave was so mild it was very difficult to get a close shave. If the shave angle wasn't perfect the blade essentially made zero contact with the skin and left stubble behind. I'm an experienced double edge safety razor user with years of experience with a wide variety of razors. This razor was far too mild for my liking. If UT weren't for the alignment issues I would give it a much higher rating since being mild is fine if that is your preference. Overall though, I was not happy with the alignment issues so the razor was returned for a refund. In my case the item qualified as defective due to the blade alignment problem. Too bad since it was a really nice looking razor.

This razor is awesome it gives me a good shave doesn't clog I been useing these razors de for 5 years now alot cheaper to use than a cartridge razor a pack of blades only cost 3.00 for 5 or 10 blades

I have numerous DE safety razors. This is my new daily razor. Nothing better at any price.

Great all solid brass as described really couldn't ask for more ..my new favorite razor..

The material is solid brass like most vintage Gillette razors which is good, as it would be hard to rust them to complete destruction unlike zinc alloys which will corrode into crumbs if they lose the chrome plating. The label says made in Denmark but the website description states that they are made in Italy. Other reviews have noted that it is most likely made by Fatip although the open comb is different from the Fatip since it has fewer and bigger teeth compared to the the Fatip. The fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired. The open comb plate is decent at best but the closed comb plate has major blade alignment problems. You probably need to eyeball and manually adjust the blade before shaving with a crooked blade and nicking your face. This razor is almost impossible to get clogged with hair while you shave. I believe if these razors were more precisely designed and made, they would become family heirlooms. But as of now they are like Italian cars, they might have some impressive features or cool factor but they also come with some major flaws.

Of course it’s five stars. It’s a fatip. Awesome.
