Useless
This book is a COMPLETE waste of time and money. Trust me,no practical advice other than spending your entirety visiting race tracks and watching hours of dog racing videos or being best mates with a Greyhound breeder. As a learning aid… he has only scratched the surface and offers up very little substance to perfect your craft. As a author( teacher) I think he makes most of his money selling this nonsense than being on the trackside…a complete charlatan.

Even out the odds on a night out, or make an income beating the bookies. Complex and conversational
Written in a conversational, no nonsense style, ‘You Can’t Eat Value’ is a great book for anyone from those who enjoy the occasional flutter, to those who actually make a living from beating the book makers. For the unfamiliar it offers a fascinating insight into a world that (it is probably fair to say) is often overlooked in favour of the nags. Its early chapters offer some simple step-by-step tips on how to pick winners, which on its own is a good start for anyone off for a bit of fun at a night at the dogs... you’re off there to spend money anyway, so you may as well try to make some back, rather than just pick your favourite names and cross your fingers! As you’d expect, the further through the book you go the more intricate the advice gets, becoming something that professional punters can really get their teeth stuck into. Always written in the voice of a friend, Livesey’s advice is always that of a friend too: be careful here, don’t bet more than you can afford to lose and gamble sensibly... have some fun with it and get a chance in the battle against the bookies!

There was very little of any value to eat in this book...
I was hoping that this one might be the missing book in the market place to advise how to approach a professional approach to greyhound betting. I was wrong it’s as useless as all the others in that regard. Less than 80 pages of large font it was more of a pamphlet really and can be read in well under two hours. I learned pretty much nothing I didn’t know already. There are a few useful pointers for things to avoid and the importance of trainers but the authors dismissal of the concept of a value bet sums the utility of this as any kind of betting manual perfectly. Don’t waste your money.
