AmeristepCaretaker Run & Gun Hunting Blind | Lightweight 2 Person Ground Blind in Mossy Oak Break-Up Country, One Size

I really like the look of this blind and the frame work feels pretty solid but once getting it set up I realized that the top was absolutely full of holes. The area I hunt gets a large amount of rain so being water tight is extremely important to me. Needless to say that this was returned. I have had many Ameristep products and have always been pleased. This has not tarnished my opinion on the company and I’m hoping that this blind was an anomaly and the replacement won’t be in the same condition.

This is my first ground blind and I am impressed! Plenty of room for my son, myself and some gear. It comes with shoot thru Velcro screens that can be replaced when necessary. The windows also have window covers. My son and I set the blind up in 34 seconds yes 34 seconds. Staking it down took longer then setting it up. There are very small pin holes but that is from it being stitched together. So it might leak but nothing serious. For $83 this is a quality blind. The fabric is thick and durable.

I set this up on a logging deck that was cleared in mid Aug. I had it up all year through multiple storms with some nasty wind over 50mph, the wettest year ever, and even some snow. It held up great through it all. The snow buckled the roof, but I brushed it off and popped it right back out with no damage at all. I actually am glad it did instead of stressing the fabric.The zipper is loud on a dark quiet morning, so maybe figure out another way to use that. I used a couple safety pins.I had squirrels and birds climbing all over me all year, even with my 5yr old who never was too quiet.I brushed it pretty good as you can see from the picture and it held up well with the limbs on it all season. A few tiny pinholes, but nothing that got me wet.I shot one deer through the mess and it didnt impact the shot at all... In fairness I was using a 6.5 Creedmoor and only had a 125yd shot.Folded it up after the season and will be ready to use next year. I imagine it will last 3 maybe 4 year's before breaking down. Unless it doesnt over winter well. I'll try to update that next year.Make sure to air out a couple of days before bringing it into the woods. Has a slight smell from being packed but that is expected and goes away.Last note I put my kid in it with white clothes on and stood back 25 yards and couldnt see them inside. So I was pleased with that. Plus I had a coupld huge tracks 30yds behind me one day. Too bad he wasnt on the other side!

My daughter and I took it out for a youth hunt day. Setup went fine. The entrance door hub nid not lock out well and tried to collapse on us even w zipper down. The window fasteners with elastic and plastic dowel on the end does not work well. Many of these just came off on the first pull as if they were stitched in or done so poorly. They were stitched into the shell without any fabric base inside and out to give the stitching strength. Also the poor solutions in all stitched areas leave pin holes everywhere so you see dot of light all over. The unit had so many issues mounting and we could see that the progressing would continue until we found ourselves spending a lot of time patching and improving this thing. Also the fabric shell is simply too thin to hold up to the stress of the push out hub design or the stress of being outdoors with falling limbs and rough ground, briars, etc. Lastly, it is too small for two people. Me and my daughter are average size. it was very small for us and we have a difficult time when time to glass through the scope, setup shooting stick, and shoot. Basically one person must get back in the corner to give the other enough space to sit, lean forward, gun extended to make a shot. It should be labeled as a one person blind, made of must tougher material in all ways, stitched much better at every point, etc. The concept is good

Ordered the blind Saturday 12/14/2019, Received the blind today on Monday 12/16/2019, set the blind up in the living room, got inside it and it looked like a constellation of stars shining through.Holes all over in it, roof and sides where there wasn’t even an attachment inside of it. Every attachment in it you could see light through, I can’t imagine this lasting any time at all. Ameristep’s solution was to destroy it, email them with all the purchasing information, attach pictures of it destroyed, pay for return shipping and then they’d ship out another one in 7-10 days. Hunting season closes by the end of the week, so that’s not gonna work. So sending it back through Amazon and they’d have another one here by Wednesday, at least I may get a couple of days to hunt this way, Thanks to Amazon ! Uhm, if the next one is the same, don’t waste your time or money on these, will let ya’ll know Wednesday what I get !

Ok I understand this is a cheaper blind but why make the windows with them little buttons flap holders there hard to get with one hand and half the time they don’t stay in place. The shoot though windows they suck they are hold on with Velcrow and are loud has all get out when you try to open they to get a shot. No windows on the door side which I know it hard to look though all four sides but I like windows on all four walls. The pros to this blind it is easy to set up in the dark and take down it take less then five minutes to set up or take down other then that it will work but american step can build a better blind for the poor man

Bought this blind and it served me well for the first two years but took really good care of it and waterproofed it yearly. I installed it this season and found out a pole is broken. No problem, I'll order a new one... wrong! Ameristep doesn't ship to Canada, I tried calling and was on hold for 2 hours before giving up and sent them several emails but never received a reply. I would not recommend Ameristep product based on the lack of customer support and absence of replacement parts. It's truly unfortunate as I was looking to purchase other products from this company but now looking at their competitors.

First time I tried setting this blind up was a challenge I could not do it by myself. I learned that the bottom had to be pegged down to the ground before opening. The pegs that the Blind came with is too small and puny, I had to get better quality pegs which I had from my camping tents.The door is small for big hunters with large coats on, you have to squeeze in through the door. The realtree camo pattern is very nice and realistic, the Windows are large enough and well placed for a good all round view.It is not very heavy which is nice and it comes with a nice storage bag with a shoulder strap for carrying.It is definitely comfortable for one guy, maximum 2 hunters.

Bought the same one in 2019 and was fairly good value for the money with a decent quality. Used it successfully for 4 seasons for turkey until last fall when before I had a chance to removed it after turkey season ended, a very powerful storm ripped it apart beyond repair.This one is, as you can see in the pictures full of tiny holes and see-through patches. Worse quality than previous one. We'll see how it performs. For the money ($180 CAD) I hope I get at least 4 seasons as well.

Well. I put it up last week. I am sure the deer were wondering what kind of animal I was being attacked by. I probably should have read the instructions a little bit. I eventually won the battle. It is now in place and staked down. It anxiously is awaiting our rematch when it comes time to put it back in the bag. To be continued.
