i was a little worried how good these would be, based solely on the price. i replaced the stock MKII in my soundgear 305 5 string with these, and love the tone. they are a bit hotter than stock, but not overpowering. i stringed it up with D'Addario XL Chromes Flat Wound ECB81-5 and run straight to the DI box, no pedal, no fx, nothing. i no longer have a nasty buzz with volumes all the way up, so with my .047uf cap, tone and volumes all wide open, i got a tone i love. crisp highs, punchy mids, and a low end growl from the E and B strings. very very pleased with these pickups. i will note that while these p/u fit in the body, the screw holes didnt quite line up. they are a bit smaller than the stock soapbars. i lined up the bottom, and had to make a new hole for the top screw, as it was ~1/16" off existing.

These pickups are so much better sounding then what was on my spector performer that got moved to my dean q5 a d still sound better than what came on the q5... bigger bottom end quiet and hotter!! Almost as hot as a active emg hz.... pleasantly suprised!!! Dont pass these bass humbuckers up if you have this style of pickup on a cheap bass you really really need these...

Overall these are pretty good. They have a good sound, but aren't quite as hot as I would have liked, but they do the job. I think they might really come to life when used with a preamp, but I haven't tried that yet. These would make a decent set of replacement pickups, or for a build/mod project.

Installed easily, look great, but the cheap ones that came in my bass sounded better and louder than these. Sent back for refund.

These pickup are very good quality and the output is very HOT.

Used these to finish a project. These sound good and have decent output. The coil spliting is a nice touch and they work well together.

I replaced the crap pickups that came on my kit with these and it's beyond night and day difference. There is a 5 string bass kit that comes with a set of pups that have almost no output level. Throw these in and be amazed.
