Good reads
A set four stories about some troubled times during England and Scotland struggle to become thUK. The stories focus on individual but related family lines and how people overcome prejudice to personal union. Along the way the reader learns a little history. That reader also can enjoy the authos uncanny ability to create a chuckle or two in the midst of tensions.

Deeep sigh. Another very poorly written...romance?
I couldn't make it through the second chapter of Highland Fling. This is another of many, many poorly written romances (?), with littlt regard for story telling. It felt like I was reading a stream of consciousness from someone's little informed imagination of how things in the highlands in 1750, might have been, how they might have communicated, etc. Unfortunately, it was just a lot of disjointed discourse of politically minded highland and English men with little involvement of, whom I presume, was the heroine. Then, with little backstory, she quickly decides she must be the one to go to England to find out what's going on politically, to get close to The Pretender king...really, a very young highland, I hesitate to say woman, with, evidently, little funding and no connections is going to be a spy in the highest ranks of society? From there I can only imagine more contrived circumstances...etc etc etcBest I can gather is this story is trying to be like Outlander, but without the research or writing knowledge nor experience.I very rarely write reviews, but I'm tired of so many poorly written books. Perhaps they're self published, or, maybe editors are just making money by publishing anything and everything, selling it for 2.99 and earning enough to not care that's they are garbage collectors and sellers. I honestly don't know.

Good reads
This was a box set of books. each book had its own story but the story and characters carried though each one. Overall they were enjoyable but just a bit more focus on the politics of the times. That alone was what made it not as enjoyable for me. But the author did a great job with the storyline and character development. They were all well written. if you enjoy this time and place you will probably enjoy these books.

One of the best series I've ever read
These four books read in order are spellbinding. The characters and locations come to life and a reader can get caught up in the drama of historical events.

Absolutely delightful
I read this four book series in order and enjoyed every page. The romance and feuds. The history of her struggle with England. The Clans of the Scottish people, their customs, their stories, Scotland and it's history that fills every paragraph. My people's history is full of it, Amanda Scott's books make it come alive.

A very interesting historical adventure series
This series carries several characters forward to each novel so that every adventure that happens is another couple's story. I liked the characters and the adventure in each story but I hope that the real people in that era were more romantic because even though I liked the characters in these novels I found them as romantic as a pair of socks. I loved that the author finds bits of history and weaves a story around those real occurences and people. I also liked that the author takes the time to put a section at the end of each novel to tell the reader what is historical fact and what was fiction.
