Pretty nice helmet and comfortable on shorter rides
I knew I was taking a bit of a chance in purchasing a helmet online but I have had a few in my time and am pretty confident of my head size and had some money tied up in Amazon Gift tokens to use so I took that gamble.Overall I am pleased with the helmet, seems well made, the manual such as it is, is rubbish ( access it online) and only contains regulatory info and nothing about the removal of linings, how to fit visors, or anything moderately useful. If you google it there are videos on YouTube though. It's lightweight, and seems well made. It's true to size for me, I need a 56 and that's what I got and I wouldn't want any bigger or smaller.I am not a fan of ratchet chin straps, prefer a traditional D ring but that's a small thing once it's properly adjusted.Very comfortable to wear in Open face mode though as the chin bar doesn't rotate to the rear, you are going to need to decide yourself what speed is too fast to ride with a large face section poking out above your eyeline with the potential to catch the wind. I would say for me that's about 40mph with short bursts maybe to 50. 60mph would be too much for my neck I reckon. In face closed mode the chin bar does come fairly close to your face so it's pretty snug. For me that's not an issue, I don't have a big chin. If you do I would say this isn't a design for you.Ventilation is good and the inner sun shield works well.My one issue with it is, and maybe it only affects me, that over say about an hour of riding with the face closed I find some sort of pressure builds up on the left side of my face as if something is pressing into me. It gets quite unbearable very rapidly and I either have to stop and remove the helmet for 10 minutes, or simply open the face section and ride like this for maybe 5-10 minutes. It feels to me like the locking mechanism makes the shell a lot more rigid ( logical really) and pulls the sides in marginally which maybe as you warm up inside (and thus swell) results in pressure. It would be impossible to test for this in a shop unless they let you wander around for 90 minutes all buttoned up in the helmet!I did look under the removable lining and their is a snap stud round about the position I feel discomfort, whether this starts to press into me or not I honestly am not sure. A small thing, and hard to test for. When fully open there is no such issue but you can feel the shell becomes more flexible. Otherwise good and my issues may not affect you.
