Easy to read
Very nice square that is easy to read in inches and metric. I looks and feels like quality instrument.

Really a great value.
I am not a tool snob, but I do like quality tools. I already have a really nice PEC square that is built/rated to very high specifications. I thought I would buy this just to have around when I needed something for measuring lumber (2 X 4 ) without breaking out my really nice square. When I opened the package I was really impressed with the weight of this tool. It does not feel like a cheaply made tool at all. Then I did the test where you take the square - draw a line about the length of the square, then turn it around and duplicate the line. To my surprise this square is every bit as square as my PEC! If you are new to woodworking, I would suggest picking this square up. I am going to treat this tool as if it cost me 100 bucks just because it is so well made. I wish all low cost tools were of this caliber of quality.

Could be better, but better than any other metric version on Amazon.
I really needed a metric version of this tool and originally all I could find were these horrible green ones that came in Chinese packaging. They were sharp and damaged all over. Compared to those this one is golden. It still seems a little rough around the edges, but is much better quality, and the machining is smooth. There is still the occasional small gouging, but it is finished over and not sharp to the touch. The locking mechanism is very cheap though. It really drives down the quality of this tool. The ruler also has edging issues where it is finished to much casuing the lines to have been worn off.

Good square, good price.
Good square but was labeled standard and came with a metric blade. Luckily my standard blade off my broken square fit.

Nice square....BUT
The square itself is very nice, however, the packaging it came in was terrible. The square was shipped in a plastic bag and NOT in a box. I received it in the mail (USPS) and the scale was bent. I did straighten it as best I could, however now it has a tight spot where the bend is.

Good ruler but weak clamp makes for a bad square
The thing that hurts the accuracy of this tool is the fact that the ruler is fairly long and the locking mechanism seems to come loose over repeated uses.

Good quality for the price
This is my first product form Johnson Level & Tool, seems well built, the lock is well designed it allows the ruler to slide but not fall out and is rock sold when locked down, the ruler is quite thick so will not bend easily. The markings on the rule are easy to read but unfortunately it had a very sharp bure on all four of the long edges witch I had to remove with a bit of sandpaper, but not before I cut my self on it.The scriber is sharp and unlike others I've seen is usable if you need to, as for accuracy like most combination square at this price point it was not quit 90 degrees, but it did not take to long to adjust it. All in all a good combination square for the price.

I’m impressed.
The combi square seems well made, accurately set to 90 and 45 degrees. The rule has been cut a tad short of the 0mm mark but I tend to mark from one mid-point to another to avoid errors where the very ends of rules are cut. The level bubble seems dead on when doing the “mark it on a wall and flip it over test”. Also, the thumb screw works well and the scribe is a nice touch.

Amazing for the price. Significantly better than those at similar price point. ($16)
Single turn (less than 180 degree) of the dial unlocks and locks the Ruler. Have tried the Stanley, Irwin and Empire squares and they all take multiple rotations of the dial and still do not unlock nicely. The reason why the Johnson is better designed is because the thread count on the dial is lower. The Amazon image is not accurate. The 300EM-S has etched markings that are the same colour as the ruler, which makes it more difficult to read. The 300EM has the same device except the Ruler is stamped and the markings are black. I received one that functioned poorly, but I believe it was a defect. Ordered another one and it works amazing; better than many others on the market.

Big chonker
Packaging is just a piece of card stock stuck to it, so it's basically thrown loose into your amazon box with whatever else you ordered (in my case a bunch of tools) . So mine came dinged up.That said, it still appears to be accurate, but it just doesn't feel like a precision instrument to me? It is very beefy and heavy, and hard to mange (for me anyway). The ruler is about 2mm thick, and the groove it sits in is almost 1mm larger. If you don't seat the ruler against the back wall of the groove before tightening, you will probably have a bit of wobble and you'll really have to crank that tightening screw to get rid of it. I also have to use 2 hands basically to ensure it is pressed totally flat on all sides and the ruler hasn't tilted or the handle hasn't dropped or pivoted on me.If you're just going to throw it in a toolbox and use it to do framing or something, I think it's a great deal for the price honestly. This thing seems like it can take quite a beating! But I'm looking for something to do finer work, with a bit more finesse. This one is too much of a brute for me.
