Work with plaster
I have been a handyman for many years working on older homes. Most stud finders today are designed for drywall. I always had trouble with finding a stud finder to use on plaster. This simple tool works very well with a plaster wall. It's small so don't misplace it like I did. I am going to have to purchase another one. I'm very pleased.

Gets the job done so I can get the job done.
The media could not be loaded. I rarely write reviews, but this one is warranted, and no, I wasn't compensated in any way. Finally a simple stud finder that works with 5/8 drywall and metal studs. Does exactly what it advertises. No recharging, no battery changes, no hard to read screens- just a wonderfully simple, accurate and reliable stud finder that fits perfectly in a tool belt. Plus, it's made in the USA which means much better quality. I have several electric stud finders that always seem like a hassle to find batteries for and difficult to decipher how accurate the beeping is. Now I can just use this simple finder to save time and get more work done.

Stud Joystick
Easy to use, no batteries, nothing to break or corrode. Pretty much just a magnet with a pop up to find studs. Metal studs are a sinch, wood studs take a little more effort as you sweep this thingy back and forth until you find a nail, then the red popper stands to attention. A little pricey for a magnet and some plastic but it's worth it. Better than having a bunch of nail holes and cheaper than buying batteries for an electronic version that works the same not as good. New tool, will probably drop in price after it's been out awhile.

What a fun little helper! But then not so fun.
Update Feb 27 2022My earlier review was based on me just playing around with the studpop. But then I had occasion to actually use it and needed it to work.VERY difficult to find that first nail. And even when I did, finding subsequent nails was difficult too. Finally went back to my electronic stud finder, after drilling into empty sheetrock a couple of times thinking I'd found a stud with studpop.----------------------------------------Earlier review.I saw this first in a 'See Jane Drill' video on YouTube. It looked like fun so I had to try it.Works very well!I tried a similar cheaper version from Stanley and did not like the Stanley version. The Stanley magnet was too weak. The Studpop has a really good magnet that grabs the metal mail when you slide over the sheetrock.Still a bit a of a treasure hunt to find that first nail, but this absolutely works as advertised.

Best stud finder ever!
Purchased after a family recommendation. I found it more accurate than the electronic one. The red center plastic marker clicks and will move perpendicular to the wall when a nail is found. It can also be used as a marker as the magnet allows the disk to stay against the wall (electronic brands don't do that). For the DIY, that tiny detail is important!

Awesome
You can accomplish the same thing with a powerful magnet, but this thing is awesome and works

Easy and cheap!
I needed a stud finder and was looking for an electric one until I saw this. I decided it was cheap and needed no batteries so decided to try it out. Every time it found a nail, I marked it off with a small white sticker.I then hung my first TV wall mount and it went right into the framing boards so I'm happy!

Terrific bargain and works perfectly.
this is a very quick in finding a stud. It has a strong magnet on the back so I keep it on my metal door and always know where it is. Great bargain and very easy to use. No assembly needed!
