Magnetic Knife Block (Knife Block)

I have over 18 kitchen/butcher knives that this knife block holds. The magnets work on both sides of the block and holds even my heaviest of knives. It’s also one of the only black knife blocks available with a high capacity. Super happy :)

I collect handmade Japanese knives and wanted a magnetic knife block to display and admire them! This particular one seemed like a great value and the best block of its kind at this price point. The build quality and finish is very good and the packaging was protective. Mine did arrive with the screws a bit loose but they are accessible at the bottom so it was a simple fix.The biggest issue is that the magnets are way too strong. This causes knives to violently snap into place against the hard wood surface. This repeated vibration is not good for knives with higher HRC in the long term, as most of the ones I have. My thinner knives, like the Takeda, bends and flexes as I insert and removes it from the block. Many of my knives have also gotten surface scratches from rubbing against the wood. I ended up gluing leather to the surface which reduced the magnetization and provides soft padding for the knives to snap onto. I strongly recommend this fix if you have pricier knives.

In comparison to similar products I found at this price range this one offers a lot. The block is heavy and feels well constructed so it should last. The quality and finish quite good but not premium. It will easily hold 12-15 knives,.a pair of shears or a sharpening rod. The magnet works well on both sides although the outer side is somewhat stronger. They also threw in a set of knives (black blade with a floral design) which I did not expect or need. Just wish they'd spent that extra money on the block instead! They are very average knives that won't last. A couple of things to consider before buying - it only comes in black (which worked fine for me) and the I would not recommend it to those looking for a space saver. Longer term, things to watch out for are magnet strength and general durability. In summary, this is a great product and I highly recommend it.

I have been looking for something to hold my 2 Chinese cleavers, which I use everyday, one for raw meats and one for veggies and cooked stuff. I was unable to find anything that was able to fit the 3.5 inch wide blades, or if the slots fit, they don’t appeal to me. Finally I found this magnetic knife block that has a lot of good reviews. Although it is kind of expensive, I bought it to give it a try. So far, I am pretty happy with it. It has 6 double sided magnetic blocks for all the knives that I use daily, plus slots for the lighter steak knives. The base is heavy enough, and the magnets are not too strong that I have to pull hard to get the knives out. They even provided a free set of knives as gifts.

The block is good and sturdy and the magnets are plenty strong to hold ant steel knife. My only complaint is that theism was sub par. There is a chip on one of the towers and the base has a blemish athe they tried to hide but was unsuccessful. Unfortunately both of these are on the front and quite visible. I have had it or a few months before I took it out of the box while the kitchen was being finished. Paint rubs off a little when I wiped it down.

One other reviewer had mentioned it not being “overly sturdy “ I have found a couple are already loosened a bit. Will probably see if it can be home repaired. For the money tho, I feel they could have done a little better job.

This magnetic knife block is really beautiful!! Very stylish. Holds a lot of knives! It is nice to be able to see the knife you want to use instead of having to pull several knives out of a slotted knife block before you find the one you want. I like the block in the middle that holds my kitchen scissors and my steak knives. My only complaint is that two of the knife slots are not very strong and the knife swings to the side instead of staying straight up and down. If I bump the knife block, the knives on those two slots fall off.

It's hard to find an item like this at this price, which is why I ended up with this one. The magnets are a bit stronger than I'd like but not too bad. Looks are subjective - I think it looks OK, my wife thinks it's ugly. Otherwise, it works exactly as described, I have knives on both sides of each 'post'. It's a bit bigger than I expected but still fits in the area I had designated for it.The next closest price to something similar I was looking at was almost 3x as much money so I'm happy with the purchase.
