Great travel backpack
I don't travel that much, but when I do, it's really nice to have a good solid bag to carry stuff. This is a great bag for those "Weekender" trips, those small trips that don't require a full suitcase (and allow you to have both hands free with a backpack type bag). I didn't want to pay the premium price for a "Mother" bag since I don't use the bag that much, but I realize that stuffing my existing backpack was always a pain as it was too small. So I found this bag, which is a great compromise, good quality and features at a great price. This bag is really roomy and can stuff twice the stuff as my "JanSport" typical backpack. The build quality is solid, and the zippers and straps all seem well built. Two things I really like, the laptop compartment is in the back (so its closest to you when you wear the bag) and the rain tarp that you can put over the bag. Laptop against the back is best for comfortable usage and the rain tarp for those many times I got caught in rainy weather and got my stuff all wet. The rain tarp is small enough to keep in the bag and you just pull it out when you need it to cover the bag.So overall, I am happy with this purchase and look forward to many usage. The one thing that is tough to review since I only recently bought the bag is the long term durability. I will update my review in the future if the durability changes my view of this bag.

Greatly exceeded my expectations!
I really have no complaints about this backpack. Initially I was looking for a carry-on backpack that I could potentially use as a “personal item” when I fly budget airlines. I knew I wanted a pack that could carry a lot and that was comfortable to carry (specifically one that had a hip belt). I looked at so many different brands and settled on this one. I’m glad I did. This backpack fit my needs perfectly. The quality and construction were much better than I was expecting for the price I paid. The fabric seems very durable and the handles are sturdy. The zippers seem high quality and can be locked together. And it holds so much! I went to the UK for 10 days and was able to fit more than enough clothes and everything else I needed for the trip. You can stuff it full and then cinch it down to make it much more compact. The shoulder straps and hip belt made it really easy to transport comfortably while I traveled, and my shoulders didn’t hurt at all unless I didn’t use the hip belt. Overall, I’d highly recommend this bag to those needing a carry-on backpack. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

The ultimate backpack for serious travelers!
UPDATE: I have now used the backpack the first time. It is a good backpack for the price. But I would say it is more made for left-handed people. I usually slide a backpack off my back to the right side of m body. With this bag the zippers from the front pocket will be the wrong way up, so I you open it things will fall out. Also after finishing packing, I realized that there was a small hole between zipper and fabric. It doesn't affect the functionality but doesn't look great and hopefully it won't rip further. I contacted amazon support, they only offered me a refund which I declined because I bought this backpack for $23 (it was the last item supposedly) and now the bags are more expensive. So I reached out to MIER because usually they have a warranty for a couple of years. But they told me, because I bought it from Amazon, they can't exchange the product nor repair it. Disappointing!----------------------------------------So I have only unboxed this backpack, haven't actually used it yet, but right away I'm blown away by the functionality. And I can't believe how cheap this backpack is!I also have a 3day briefcase from TOPO that was really expensive $179 and this backpack is better in my opinion. This is solid for a weekend or a even a week if you're a light packer. I could also see myself using this for long-term travel in a warm climate like Thailand/Phillipinnes again for light packers.Highly recommend, I think it's impossible to find another backpack like this for this price.

Great carryon case for short trips
Very sturdy construction with lots of pockets. The laptop sleeve is at the bottom of the case (which would not be my first choice). Once fully packed, It didn’t fit in the overhead compartment, but I was still able to fit it under my seat on most flights. The puddle jumper I took from Denver to pier was a smaller plane, and this case did not fit under the seat without sticking out into the leg room area. If the bag is not fully packed, the side straps sent it down to make it smaller, which is a very nice feature to have. Also, the shoulder straps were comfortable, but the connector was not on the long enough.

Buy, buy, buy for the price!! Cheap price but super durable. Would buy again!!
Great product!! We bought two of these for our Asia 15 day trip. We got these to avoid luggage fees and also to bring less stuff. We had enough room for all our clothes plus expansion to use for buying extra gift items for family. The traps were sturdy. The buckles worked great. The zippers and compartments were wondering. You have so much space you may not need it all. It also has protective areas for your passport or secure documents. You can use locks on the zippers. Overall, these two packs worked amazing. We didn’t get charged for bag fees. There were 2 out if the 7 airlines that tried to charge us but we stated they were backpacks and not luggage and they left us alone. These feel smaller than the hard case mink suitcases. You can compress them if you want and they also come with rain covers.

Just barely works as a personal item
I purchased this backpack for United basic economy flights where I could only bring a personal item. Although this backpack is quite large, it does fit underneath the seat with a little bit of effort needed to push it in and pull it back out. I didn't pack it fully and I used the straps to reduce the thickness of it however, so if you do pack it until it's completely full, you will definitely not be able to use it as such. However, this would definitely work as a carry on luggage. It's about the same size as a larger one.

Works great but tight fit for 17in laptop
Bought this for my brand new gaming laptop. Its a 17in laptop and barely fits in the back skinny slot made for the laptop. Im pretty sure one of these times zipping up the backpack it will bust at the seam because it is that difficult to zip shut. The rest of the bag is awesome. I'd recommend they downgrade this to a 16.5 backpack.

Great bag!
I just travelled for 5 weeks with this bag and it was perfect! I only travel with a carryon, and I didn't have to expand this at any time. It fit in the overhead bin of all of the planes. (I did note that if you expand this bag, it did not fit in the overhead bins of some flights, such as Lao Airlines and Cambodia Angkor Air. It did fit below the seat in front of you though.) Bag seems durable and strong. My only issue was the external compression straps. On one side of the bag, they work perfectly. On the other side, the clip pops open when I go to tighten the strap. I managed to tighten the strap by holding the clip together, and the clip seems to stay together this way. Unfortunately, it doesn't compress as much when I do it this way. (On another note, this is just a wish: the laptop section only unzips part way. It would be great if it fully unzipped into a clamshell opening too. I'd also love to see a smaller version of this bag, such as 20L expandable to 30L.)
