Great for newbies!
I am very new to Pathfinder and in my first couple games enough questions came up with the backstory, factions, and items that my GM told me it would be a good idea to get this book. It was a great recommendation. This book is very helpful for newbies like myself to get up to speed by laying a good foundation around character classes, factions, some lore, items, and how to deal with certain monster types. It's like having the notes from the smartest person at the Pathfinder Academy.

Interesting ideas
I'll be honest, I prefer to run my own campaign world--so I wouldn't use a product like this whole-cloth. However, the Paizo team usually comes up with some great ideas that I can incorporate into my campaign, and this book is no exception. However, if you are not running an official Pathfinder Society game, this book is not essential for play, even in Golarion.

Good resource, but a bit thin
It tells you all that you NEED to know, but for the price I expected it to be a little thicker. It was well worth the buy though, and the information that is included is very good indeed. If you are thinking of joining PFS, or already have and don't have this book, I would highly recommend it.

Indispensable for PFS play
Although it is short and sweet; it is well written with a few interesting bits of crunch and fluff here and there. Indispensable for Pathfinder Society Organized Play; probably much less needed for a standard campaign. All in all a good purchase.

Excellent Pathfinder Society Resource
This 64 page full color book is a great resource for Pathfinders. It details the following:- The city of Absalom, the primary location for Pathfinder adventures.- The ten factions that players may join in the ongoing Shadow War.- Six Archtypes that players may add to a PC.- An "in character" field guide for Society members.- Pages of equipment and magic items.- Vanities & Prestige AwardsThese last two are things that a Pathfinder can "purchase" with Prestige Points they earn for completing missions for their faction. These items include: titles, positions, businesses, estates, followers, memberships, wayfinder enhancements and in-game benefits. If you play Pathfinder Society games - this is a must have.
