Sprouted quickly
Spread by hand in a couple bare spots that have all-day shade. Did no site preparation. Watered it a couple times, but not every day. Got sprouts after about a week, by 2 weeks new grass 2-3 inches tall.So we’ll see if it lasts…

Strange
This grass seed grew fast. With in 3 days but you have to spread it close together and it comes in very thin. When it gets tall it falls over on its self like a topay. I thought it would be thicker.

Good spot repair
I applied this seed 2 weeks ago. Moles destroyed the grass in this area. I poisoned the moles and applied this grass seed to the area. I watered it every day. The sun is hot here in SW Florida. The grass was showing in 6 days. Came in good. Did exactly what I bought it for. I recommend this for spot repairs. Might be to costly for large area. Keep your moles under control. Ive found that a little diesel fuel in their house will annoy them into leaving. Lol. A pump up sprayer with the nozzel removed works great without killing alot of grass. Update. Grass came in and filled in a lot bigger area than I seeded. It creeps and fills in. I am so impressed with the results I got from this product. I highly recommend. Make sure you water it good until it gets established.

Mostly filler, very few seeds...
After reading the package, and sadly not reading the reviews till now, I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. If all you need is to grow enough grass to fill a couple of small pots, then buy this product, but for anything else, this product does not deliver. As many reviewers have stated, the package is mostly fillers with very few actual seeds. Total false advertising, buy something else.

I called the company I was so unhappy, please read feedback
For $10 (on sale) I figured why not try it. Can't get a 5 pound bag of seed for that price, least not lately. Well I read the reviews before purchasing so I knew what to expect. I put a little over the locations I needed grass. Kept watering it. And repeated every week for three weeks. Because there is SO much byproduct vs actual grass seed and doing it the way I did I ended up with a little over half the grass I needed planted. I had never tried this brand nor even heard of this brand in all my life. I'd share pictures however I forgot to take before pictures. If there was at least 50% more grass seed verses filler I do believe I would of had fully covered grass and thus the picture on the bag. So here's the results of my call with the company:She said there isn't a lot of seed in the product and its stated clearly on the product, something like 13% (no wonder it was $10!). I personally could not find that. She said large areas use smart seed dense shade, or "smart seed."Poor results over 90 degrees June/Aug it shouldn't be planted. Cooler temps best results. She suggests mixing this product with the smart seed. She also said not to use a spreader. (I didn't.)I'm happy with the quality of grass that DID grow. It wasn't super thin it blended beautifully with my lawn. Sometimes grass seed will produce super thin grass that doesn't last very long because it's thinner then a pencil!

Ditch the namebrand Scotts and use something that works
I have used both Scotts and Pennington and will always reach for the Pennington brand over Scotts. I've noticed that grass seeds tend to have a shelf life and I have to say that every time I have bought a Scotts product I have been disappointed. I use the seeds to fill in bare spots from my Husky and I have found that Pennington sprouts every time. Scotts not so much, and Scotts os more expensive. The wood based carrier for the Pennington spot repair is genius and way better than the soil Scotts provides. Again, with Husky urine the wood neutralizes it while the Scotts product just doesn't grow. I used to be a fan of Scotts but for Grass seed There are way better options. Pennington being one of them.
