I've been using this system for a couple of years now and it is the cleanest way to seal the thermostat housing that I have. You DO need to have the correct housing, with the channel for the O ring in it. I was under the impression that they were reusable, as the product packaging for the thermostat housing may have suggested, but the O ring will not seal if you attempt to reuse it- which is exactly the reason I bought these replacements, AND the reason it isn't getting 5 stars. No messy RTV, no crossing fingers that both surfaces are completely flat. No scraping RTV or gasket material off of the intake or housing when you replace. Just pull out the old O ring and press in the new one.

This O-ring fit my Trans Dapt/Mr. Gasket water neck perfectly and I was able to reuse it twice. (Third time was NOT a charm.

Worked well.
