Haircut for Lion (Hello Genius)

Maybe it should be called Lion Goes to the Barber? We changed the pronouns to use this book with our daughter (which is just fine) but the entire experience will be different. (Dad won't go first, etc.) She still likes the book, but it's not a great way to prep her for her first haircut, which was our reason for purchasing.

I run an in hk.e daycare and I have every single one of these books. The kids love them.

We’ve been reading this book during the week leading up to a haircut for the last 4 haircuts for my 2.5 year old. He used to freak out and cry during hair cuts. Yesterday, we had a haircut with smiles and no tears at all (Big win!). We read the book every day for a week up until the haircut day. We bring the book to the haircut and read it during the haircut. We go to the same hairdresser every time so we call the hairdresser in the book by her name (it’s the Flamingo). This book is a very simple step-by-step process of a basic hair cut. It seems so simple that it’s boring but my toddler cannot get enough of these books. It helps them to process seemingly simple scenarios that can be stressful. I recommend this book to everyone who’s struggling with haircuts with toddlers!

What a fun presentation to having a first haircut with dad.

I purchased this book for my classroom as our dramatic play area is set up for a barber shop/hair salon. The children enjoy this book when I read it to them. They also enjoying looking through the book on their own.
