A GREAT LITTLE LIGHT TABLE!
This product is simple but effective. I am old school: by profession, I am a drafter and have always had access to light tables in my work. But as computer aided design takes over, there is really not much need for a light table. Over time, light tables have disappeared from drafting offices I have worked in. But I also build plastic scale models as a hobby. I need to trace camouflage patterns to make paint masks on a pretty regular basis. Out of frustration and not being able to see through a sheet of paper to trace a camo pattern, I said to myself "too bad I don't have a light table". Then on a whim, I thought I would look on Amazon and I found this device. It is perfect for my hobby. It provides 3 levels of brightness at the touch of a button and is small enough and light enough to carry anywhere (I even found myself making paint masks by tracing a camo pattern on an index card while watching TV in bed a few nights ago). The uses for this device are limited only to your needs. I think any artist, hobbyist or graphics professional can think of a time when a device such as this would come in handy. For the price, there really is no reason not to have one. I have only had the device for a couple months so we will see how it holds up. It doesn't seem like it would take a lot of abuse so I am careful to put it away when I am not using it. But I am 100% happy with my purchase.

Lightpad review
For this lightpad, I can say that I completely enjoy this product. While I'm not one to trace, when I work with illustration clients that want multiple but similar designs, its easy to make multiple copies of the same drawing and then slightly alter each one to find the base sketch that appeals most to the client. The three levels of light intensity shines through thick and thin paper, and the thin design itself helps. As an artist, I use a sketchbook. The thin design allows for me to place the lightpad under a page in my sketchbook, so that I can get the image on to another page via tracing. While it is possible to do without the lightpad, I have found that it is quicker when on a deadline. Not only is the lightpad useful for its intended purpose, but it is also a nice, smooth surface to draw on aside from tracing. I have used this lightpad for a few days and have no complaints. I have noticed though, that the areas around where the lightpad is plugged in at, and near the button, tends to be warmer than other areas. This is either from my hand resting on that area and the area retaining heat, or a simple matter of light heat production. But it has never been anything more than slightly warm, barely noticeable. I don't leave the lightpad on for hours, and its only activated when I'm working. I have also noticed that when on, the sides of the lightpad actually shine light out on to the surrounding areas. It is an interesting effect, but doesn't impede or cause any harm. As for the USB cord, the package came with a wall socket as well, so you can plug in away from a computer. But on the subject of using the USB, I find no problems with it. The cord is long, and if I don't want to use my laptop to power it up, I can always plug it in the wall. The cord is as long as my arm span (as a 5'4" adult, I imagine if someone wants to know how long that is they can do the math), and is very roomy and forgiving. Just because it says USB required doesn't detract from its use.

Great tracing light pad that will get the job done
Great product! I like how thin and light it is. It has different settings of how light you want the back light to be and does a really good job at showing the details through both pieces of paper! This is pretty delicate, so I get afraid it will break and/or the light will stop working, so when finished with it, i tend to put it back in the box it was shipped in. I would rate this a 9/10 and am very proud of this purchase. Pros: Different light settings Lightweight Great size Cheap price compared to others sold on amazon that does the same thing Came with its own charger and wall brick Cons: Probably could easily break The cord can get in the way Dark pictures do not show up well when tracing

PERFECT for examining film negatives
This product is absolutely perfect for examining my film negatives and film transparencies. The light is evenly lit corner to corner, has three different brightness settings, and has a slim and sleek design that easily stores in a drawer if I need it out of the way. It’s lightweight so I can bring it somewhere if need be but it probably won’t leave my desk. It’s large enough to fit a whole roll of film (cut into strips). I like that they changed this model to be powered by USB so I can power it with my computer instead of having to use an outlet. This really is a perfect light box

Very good but not perfect
So far this light panel works very well. It is evenly lit from corner to corner with no dim spots anywhere. For me the brightness adjustments are satisfactory although I wish it had one more step between medium and full because max brightness is very bright indeed. The panel is solid yet light weight overall. I plan to install some kind of corner protection because the corners are not rounded. A slight design flaw I think. A little more care on the finished edges would be nice which is why the four stars instead of five. However, I understand that sometimes those finishing touches take more time to manufacture and so demand a higher price. A friend has one that cost four times as much yet the same size and it has rounded corners and rounded edges on total circumference. it also has more finite adjustments and a nice case. With that said I would recommend this particular unit without hesitation for this price range. Want a simple light panel without the frills and a quite reasonable price this would fit the bill. Here's a tip: Find a nice case or portfolio to keep it in when not in use.
