Definetly great for beginners!
I thought I would be considered a beginning sewer. I think I am a beginners seamstress after reading this. It is fantastic for very new sewers. I am definitely going to do the majority of the crafts with my niece's and nephew,;as well as have them utilize the directions, by reading this book themselves

Look elsewhere for a solid beginner sewing book
This book is not helpful for a beginning sewist. There are no pictures whatsoever. You can see photos of the projects on her website, but you have to register for it, plus they aren't even photos she took. They are photos from other blogs and websites like Purl Bee, which the website claims are fine to "borrow" because they are being used for "teaching" purposes. It's all a little fishy. The list of projects is great, and that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. The instructions are not great, but at least you can get an idea of what you might like to make, then go online and find a better tutorial than the ones included here. For instance, for the potholder tutorial, it says to sew three sides with the fabric right sides in, turn inside out, insert padding, and then "sew the final side." No explanation on how to sew the final side now that it's right-side out. I would be very frustrated if this were the first book I looked at to learn to sew. I've sewn a few things, so hopefully I can figure out what to do on my own.One final note - I bought the paperback, which turned out to be the ebook just formatted with page numbers. There are all sorts of "Click Here" notes that I obviously can't click. The good thing with Amazon now is that the kindle version is included with some print purchases, so I used my iPad to access the kindle version, then click on the links. All in all, you can find a much better beginning sewing book elsewhere.

Simple sewing projects that anybody can begin with.
I have inherited a sewing machine from my parents. Although this machine has been in my house for quite some time now. I haven't had the chance in operating it since practically, I don't even have the hint on how to operate it. With the simple guides on how to operate this machine found in this book, I think I am now ready to try this out. This book contains a lot of sewing projects and these are presented with the appropriate materials to be used and they are supplied with relatively simple instructions to follow. I have decided to try this simple project on sewing reversible placemats. For me, this project appears uncomplicated and the operational procedures are very easy to follow. Aside from this, there are still lots of simple projects that anybody can begin with.

very interesting book
Sewing has been my favorite since I was a little girl, well when I was old enough to be allowed to hold a scissor that is. I learned the skills of sewing from my mom and I loved it at first because it was a bonding moment with mom not that I considered it bonding at the time. I just liked cutting the cloths by following the lines. But as I grew it turned into something that relaxes me and keep me occupied on my spare time. I found many new good patterns in this book. Even though I am not a beginner by any definition I still got something out of this book. Like I never had the occasion to learn how to make the tab top curtains and found that here thus taking a some time to learn this and this book was a good place to start.

Simple projects to start with.
This is the only machine in my house that I have not tried operating ever since. Although everyone in my household practically knows how to operate it, it seems to me that knowing how to operate this machine is not important to me. But having read the book, I am wrong. This is a very significant machine that has helped a lot of people. I now realize the importance of this machine. As a neophyte, this book can help me a lot in knowing how to operate this machine. There are also simple projects involving low-cost materials that I can start with.

Simple, for beginners, but not for day#1 sewers :)
This book claimed to be helpful for “an absolute beginner”, but I followed as a beginner and had a really hard time without more detailed explanation of some basics they I believe were assumed to be common knowledge. I made the pencil case and it did not turn out well at all- although I have to admit, I still use it daily to hold my GWHOLE sewing clips. I just felt that i needed a little more of a foundation in sewing before being able to use this book, even though the projects seem simple and well-instructed now. I do not recommend for a very new, “I-just-got-my-first-machine-yesterday”, beginner, as I was when I purchased this book. Otherwise, it had some pretty good ideas for gifts and several quick, easy, and fun projects.

Not for beginners.
The book title is misleading. There are a few cute ideas but the instructions on how to sew the items are not helpful. I saw a wallet I might make, but the instructions left dozens of steps out. The pictures showed a wrist strap, a zippered feature, and a way to keep the wallet closed. The instructions said to cute out three pieces of fabric, make an accordion fold, and then turn the fabric to show the right sides out. That's literally the truth.

There are no patterns!
I was extremely disappointed when opened the package and found that despite its bold claim to contain "50 patterns" it infact contains NO patterns. Each "pattern" consists of a page of reminiscing from the author, a single black and white photo and vague written instructions. There are NO patterns in this book, at all. The instructions are far too vague for a beginner, and if you're at an intermediate level, you may be able to recognise that most of the measurements and methods are incorrect. Thats impressive seeing as every single "pattern" is based on a square. Please read the reviews before you buy something like this. And even Google the book to make sure that you are getting what you think you're getting because, again, there are NO patterns in this book.Nice cover.

So Dull..
This is not a sewing book! NO patterns - just really boring instructions, very dreary pictures and totally uninspired items to sew. One of the worst books I have ever seen on the subject - however, it will teach me to read reviews in future. Will be going straight to the charity shop - not in the bin because I don't waste things - but it is useless! Not happy at all.

Quick read!
I know a bit about sewing, I learnt it from my aunty. This book is aimed at beginners teaching them the basics about sewing and how to get started with it. I got to learn some new points from it and some I already knew by watching my aunty. Grab it if you have no knowledge about sewing. A quick read!
