Greetings from Cicely, Alaska! Return to one of television's quirkiest and most beloved towns with Northern Exposure: The Complete Series! When New York doctor Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow) takes on a residency in Anchorage, he's sure that he's in for a cushy, comfortable gig. But upon his arrival in Alaska, Joel finds that he's a fish out of water when he's instead assigned to a tiny village where the eccentric townspeople first befuddle—then eventually charm—him. Receiving 39 Emmy® nominations over the course of its six-season, 110-episode run from 1990 to 1995, Northern Exposure is a celebrated mix of offbeat humor and heartfelt storytelling with a fantastic ensemble cast, including Barry Corbin, Janine Turner, John Corbett, John Cullum, Cynthia Geary, Darren E. Great writing, characters, and entertainment sans gratuitous ugliness, drama, and violence
This was a splurge that is worth every penny. We have been savouring every episode about the people of Sicily, AK (actually filmed in Roslyn, WA) and their quirky antics. We try to watch only one a week to stretch out our watching happiness. If you remember this show and think you might like to watch it again, you are absolutely right! It's wonderful to watch a series that DOESN'T:- include gratuitous and escalating violence with every episode and season- have escalating episode-ending cliff hangers that leave the mind spinning and anxious- celebrate people acting like total jerks to themselves and others by cheating, drinking (in excess!), lying, etc. (Disclaimer: I am not a Christian, just someone who likes to see the good in others). It's wonderful to watch a series that DOES:- celebrate the eccentricities and delightful charms of human nature and community- highlight the power and impact of nature without proselytizing or being depressing- include aspects of magical realism and the explainable mystery of life- have amazing writing and interwoven threads of plot in every episode- leave the viewer feeling good about the world and the people--relaxed, thoughtful, and able to sleep. And, the theme song: Try to listen all the way through and not wiggle some part of your body or tap a toe. From a nuts and bolts perspective the outer case it quite light weight, more like card stock, but the discs seem well manufactured and the DVD cases are sturdy.

Love this show.
One of the best shows. I binge watch it when the weather is bad and cannot be outside. Ed is my favorite character.

Don't Let The Price Discourage You ...
This is the real thing! 113 episodes on twenty-five discs, with the ORIGINAL music intact! All your favorite characters come back to life in Cicely, Alaska! Dr. Fleishman, the Columbia Medical School graduate who is serving as an indentured servant to the State of Alaska to pay off his tuition; Maggie O'Connel, the hot-tempered bush pilot and Fleishman's nemesis; Chris Stevens, the ex-con and current Voice of Arrowhead County, via the airwaves of KBHR, 570 AM on your radio dial; Marylin Whirlwind, the wise but quiet Native American receptionist at Fleishman's office; Ed Chigliac, the wanna-be movie writer/director/producer and shaman-in-training; Maurice Minnifield, the ex-astronaut/plutocrat who thinks his 17 million dollars is all the money in the world; Ruth Ann Miller, who runs the town's general store; Holling and Shelly, Cicely's May-December couple and proprietors of The Brick, Cicely's only bar, and all the rest - goumet chef Adam and his hypocondriac wife, Eve, Walt the trapper, Dave the short-order cook at The Brick - they're all here.I've just finished binge-watching this entire series, and every disc, every episode was perfect; no dark scenes, no blurry edges or muted dialogue. However, I was disappointed to learn there is no directorial or character/actor commentary for any of the episodes, but most have deleted scenes you can watch, which they're calling "Bonus Content."Don't let the price fool you, though; if you loved the series, as I do, you won't feel let down or taken in when it arrives. I've read some other reviews that claimed missing or duplicate discs, but I have no such complaints (well, except for the lack of commentary). My order arrived two days early, in perfect condition. The entire series for less than forty bucks? I think this is one of the best bargains on Amazon!Highly recommended.I paid the same price you'll pay for this DVD set. I don't accept free products from sellers in exchange for my reviews.

Last Season Was Disappointing
The DVDs themselves had no issues with playback, and for most of the series it was enjoyable. HOWEVER, someone was smoking crack for that last season.

Wonderfully Funny Series to Watch Again and Again
I never watched Northern Exposure when the series originally ran on TV, but have really been enjoying watching the complete series on DVD with my husband Jim. We've rewatched some of the episodes, always pick up a little something new each time. I also find it interesting how the actors grow and blossom into their characters more and more as the series progresses.Favorite scene so far? Dr. Joel Fleischman checking out plumbing books from the "library", which is in the general store. The library plumbing section consisted of 3 or 4 books, he checked them all out. He was given a library card, and reminded "Don't forget to renew your library card in 3 years!" Such a funny scene, which I can just imagine happening in small town Alaska.I highly recommend this DVD complete series for fun entertainment.
