Clever, Cute - Perfect Christmas Read!
I adore a cute holiday read and this one satisfied! I didn’t know how this one would turn out, but I ate it up. Unlike anything I’ve read before- highly recommend!

so cute
Thought I would read a Christmas book to get me in the holiday spirit. I really enjoyed The Paradise Problem. This is the perfect blend of “Groundhog day”, “hallmark Christmas movie”, and romantic comedy with a tiny bit of spice. I thought it was really cute and fun and I enjoyed it a lot.

second chances and the magic of the holidays
The story follows Maelyn Jones, who finds herself stuck in a Groundhog Day-like time loop during her family’s annual Christmas vacation. After a particularly rough year, Mae’s one wish is to find out what truly makes her happy. When she wakes up on the plane heading back to the cabin after a disastrous end to the trip, she realizes she has a chance to relive the holiday and maybe even rewrite her future.Mae’s journey is full of humor, heart, and a bit of holiday magic. As a mom, I found her relatable—trying to find balance and happiness amidst the chaos of life. Plus, the cozy, festive setting of the cabin and the warmth of her family traditions made me want to curl up with a hot cocoa and savor every page.Christina Lauren’s writing is engaging and fun, with just the right amount of romance and self-discovery. Mae’s attempts to break out of her loop are both hilarious and touching, and watching her navigate the ups and downs of her relationships is truly heartwarming. It’s like a perfect holiday movie in book form, with all the feels you want this time of year.If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted, uplifting read that’ll leave you smiling, "In a Holidaze" is definitely worth picking up. It’s the kind of book that makes you believe in second chances and the magic of the holidays.

sweet!
As I was reading this, I was thinking this should definitely be next year’s Netflix Christmas Movie. And sure enough, it’s been picked up!Maelyn’s favorite place in the world is the cabin owned by her parent’s friends from college. Every Christmas and every fourth of July, 3 families converge on the cabin to take part in the same traditions. And Mae loves all of it. Including her friend Andrew who she’s been in love with for approximately half of her life. But according to their families, she’s supposed to marry his younger brother Theo who she only sees as a brother.Mae goes through her week at the cabin and it is disastrous. And then while she and her family are on the way to the airport to go home, they are hit by a truck. And when Mae wakes up, she’s on her way back to the cabin. Because this week hasn’t happened yet and she’s got a chance to do it over. The only person she confides in is Benny the bachelor and together they figure out what wrongs to right. This book is about going for what you want instead of what’s expected of you. It’s about occasionally putting yourself first. And it’s about figuring out what actually makes you happy. It was very cute

It's all about your expectations
Listen...I mean..I am a former English literature major from a liberal arts college and am therefore entitled to play my part as a "literary snob". Long have I browsed through much more difficult reads, attempting to make myself feel higher than. After stumbling into a career as a high school and middle school ELA teacher, I, quite literally, -shelved- reading books for silly enjoyment. I focused too much on the memoirs, the autobiographies, and the essayists hype that had taken over social media (and I swear to you if I see one more basic white woman post Glennon Doyle's "We Can Do Hard Things" mantra one more time, I will unlearn the English language).I bought this book for the "Groundhog Day" structure that was advertised. But to be honest,it's not that. (Side note: for a fresh take on this, watch Palm Springs movie on Hulu) It's a "romance" where the protagonist's childhood crush may or may not become a reality. Haven't we all had a crush on someone's hot older sibling?I sat around on Christmas (home alone, with Covid, quarantined) and read this book in a few hours. Easy read. Flows nice. I laughed under my breath, judged the authors' plot twists, empty characters and stakes-- "ha! Yeah.. okay.. sure", I would say, snidely, and under my breath. If HBO somehow adapted this as a screenplay the main crush, Andrew, surely would be a murderer, as he is far too kind, hot, and amiable. I hoped the book would be over, fearing it would kill my brain cells or I'd forget to aim for more "civilized" reads. I laughed at how unrealistic the dialogue was.BUT dang, if that book had continued for 300 more pages, I would've read every one of them. A page turner it is.As I near the age of 30 next week, I've spent a small fortune on anti-aging regimens. When all along, Christina and Lauren have been waiting for me, their works transporting me back to my high school self. I was giddy when the main characters kissed. I felt the "will they or won't they?" butterflies from 2006 rom-coms. I knew what was going to happen in the end, (because duh), but felt a twinge of sadness when it was all over. A guilty pleasure they have given us. A light underneath our masks. An option for guilt-free and mindless entertainment that's not on Netflix. And, even though the authors wrote this pre-pandemic, I find it ironic and hilarious that the families at the cabin are technically social distancing. What?! Something that we can relate to, and something that feels remotely normal?! Yes, I say. Yes. It's good.i'm in. I'm here for more. I am now staring at my mailbox, waiting for the next Christina Lauren book to arrive. I feel like the 5th grade version of me that refused to leave the hotel room on family vacation so that I could read Harry Potter's "Goblet of Fire" in 24 hours. Just don't tell my book snob friends.

Fun holiday read
This is a fun holiday read. It honestly would have been better without the knock off Groundhog Day element. Particularly because it felt like the writers, who i usually enjoy, weren’t into it either. It sort of disappears after a few chapters. The book was much better after that.

An engaging and enthralling read.
The writing team of Christina Lauren has done it again; they have written an emotional romantic book with plenty of humour and in this case a touch of the magic of the universe. This enthralling “Ground Hog” like theme brings into focus what makes a group of unrelated people into a family where love, tradition and change can thrive and how to keep love alive. I loved the eclectic nature of the characters in this family and desperately hoped that Mae would get her wish. This book is just what I wished for - an absolutely enjoyable read.

Excellent book
Is a christmas story about Mae, a girl with a beautiful family, perfect friends, a long life crush on one friend, that loves her traditions and everything in her life. Until she feels like she is not happy, so she makes a wish. And now she is reliving her christmas holidays until she figures out how to make her wish come true. This was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. I loved this story. It was a great genuine family dynamic. With true friendships. Normal conflicts. The importance of having traditions on knowing and accepting when change is needed. What is truly important in life. What is truly going to make anyone happy, this part was what makes this story so perfect to me, the realization of what happiness truly is.PLUS I need an Andrew in my life. The romance in this book was genuine and true. It didn't feel rushed at all, even knowing the story takes place during the few days the holidays last. The drama was not overly exaggerated, the conflicts were real, the way they went through it was a great lesson to what a healthy relationship should be.I NEED THIS BOOK TO BECOME A CHRISTMAS MOVIE. I need to have a blanket a coffee and just have a smile for 2 hours while I watch this on TV. For now this book will be on my forever to read on christmas list.Thank you Christina Lauren

What an awesome book to get the Christmas spirit going. The combination of a beautiful love story and a lot of chaos, makes this book a great read. For everyone who hasn’t got their Christmas spirit yet, it’s a perfect starter.

A super festive and addictive holiday romance that will have you glowing with the warm fuzzy feels!
It has been a long time since I've read a CLo book and now I'm wondering why! This book was such a fun and wonderfully festive holiday romance and it served a good dose of feel-good family vibes, a swoony albeit slightly cheesy swoontastic romance, and likeable characters that you can't help but root for and wish you were friends with, too! If you're looking for a holiday read to lose yourself in for a little while, I would definitely recommend this one.Mae was an such a relatable main character. She's a people pleaser and a peacekeeper—she doesn't like to rock the boat and tries to be the calm medium in all interactions, but the need to be the level-headed person all the time is also draining and has hindered her more than its helped her in the end. I loved how she evolves though and comes to realise that reaching for the things that make her happy is worth the risk of being bold and speaking up. Once she decides to be honest about her feelings, things progress pretty rapidly in the romance department and I have to admit, although it wasn't really insta-love, at least on Mae's part, it took a little while for me to be convinced about Andrew's feelings. That said, I thought the sexual chemistry between them developed nicely and I thought the way CLo tackled their evolving relationship from friendship love to romantic love was done well. I really loved the easy comfort they had and the ways they really understood each other, which added to that ease! Their romance was so heartfelt, sweet and okay, sometimes super cheesy at times, but that didn't stop a big grin from decorating my face whenever those moments happened. Even with the requisite drama and romantic break-up angst, theirs is a love that will have your insides glowing with all the warm and fuzzy feelings. 🥰 This also had fade-to-black sex scenes, so if on-page sex is something you don't jam with in romances, this one will be fine for you!Aside from the romance, my favourite part of the book was the family gathering in the cabin. I absolutely adored this mixed family that came together every year for the holidays. Reading about their fun traditions that ranged from simple board games, cocktail hours and tree trimming, to snow sculpting and scavenger hunts through town, made me itch so badly to join in on the fun! There was such a wonderful flow of love and respect within this group and you can tell how much they appreciated, understood and cared for each other. I adored Benny, who was a wonderful sounding board and strong pillar of support for Mae, and I adored all the ways he was there for her through the crazy groundhog day experience—their uncle/niece relationship was so heartwarming! I also liked the weird relationship that Mae had with her brother Miles. He might've been a sullen teen addicted to his phoneWhat I wasn't so chuffed about was how the whole thing between Mae and Theo was handled. I get that Mae is reacting to something that, in this version of reality, didn't happen, but Theo was basically a non-entity until close to the end. I felt like the whole "Theo and Mae" set-up was unnecessary since it added nothing but unneeded drama and little tension, not to mention it was resolved so easily that I wasn't particularly sold on it.Ultimately though, this was a super-fast read and I had a great time, as I always do, with CLo's characters and their romances. This is probably one of the most festive holiday romances that I've had the pleasure of reading, so if you're looking for something that's for sure set during the holidays (and not during the summer lol) then I'd definitely recommend giving this a shot! :
