The True Genius of Woman
Alice Von Hildebrand is a true feminist. She give's women the opportunity to grow in their role as woman, mother and wife without apology. She writes beautifully about the true feminine mystic without fear to offend but instead to lift up women in the supernatural way as God intended. She is very clear in her explanation of women in the truest sense of who she is, what her role is in this life. if you read with an open heart you cannot help but be encouraged by her words of support, love and truth. You will be proud to be a woman for all the right reasons.

Good book but a little dry
This book was recommended to me by a friend. It is a pretty good book, I am almost done with it. Alice gives some good information and helps women to understand what it means to be female and how being the "weaker sex" is not at all bad or shameful. Being a college business student it is nice to read something with a different viewpoint than those typically given on a college campus. The only reason I didn't give it a five star is because it can be a little dry in some places, but those spots seem to be short. Also since this book is REALLY hard to find because it is out of print, finding it new on Amazon for under $20 is great. Most other places it is almost $30 for a used copy.

Not what I'd hoped
I read all the reviews so I was hoping for something special with this book. Not so for me. I wasn't even clear by the end of the book what her main point was about what is the privilege of being a woman. She had several good thoughts which weren't fully developed or talked about in any real depth. At the end the author talks about the fruit of Mary's womb. (We know the value of Mary as well as Jesus in our lives). She also dismisses the work of feminists. I am not a feminist but I do believe in equal work equal pay. Women are all so unique and differently gifted. If I ever have a daughter I would wish for her to develop her gifts and talents. Some women prefer being homemakers others have other callings in life. For a much fuller and truer image of women I would recommend Edith Stein's book: Essays On Woman. That is a masterpiece. (my thoughts) Also on being a mother which is the genuine wish of many if not most women I recommend Anna Melchior's book: Mothering.

A Book Required for every Woman to Read
Never have I come across a book that so gracefully, yet concisely, speaks of the beauty and grace of a woman in a contemporary sense till now. Von Hildebrand covers a range of topics that pertain to the sanctity of a woman's femininity such as how the "weakness" of a woman can be the crux of her sanctification is she aligns herself to the will of God. Early on, von Hildebrand scrutinizes Simone de Beauvoir's philosophy of women and her way of interpreting sacred scripture. She corrects her view by citing the same people that de Beauvoir herself used to form her feminist ideology. Von Hildebrand explains how feminism seeks to destroy the essence of femininity through the false flag of liberation. She does dabble a bit into metaphysics but it is nothing to difficult for the average reader to grasp. This book is a must read for any Catholic woman who would like to understand who she is in God's divine plan. Non-Catholic Christians and non-Christians in general are encourage to read this book for it may shed light on as to why the feminist movement is destructive to society at large and also to share the immense value and privilege a woman is born with.Dominus vobiscum!

A conseiller vivement.
